First of all Congratulations on your award. I know I was rather sneaky putting the group up for an award, but after going through many I felt your group was the best choice, hope no one got up set, that is what I do on the side. I belong to different award groups, and hope you are not upset I did it. I am guilty as charged!
Thank you for accepting my invitation here. I felt it was a good place for you to post. You have a great group. I may not post much their, but I read it every chance I get...Thank you And Bless you for joining us...TomH

My goodness. Thanks Thomas. I really don't know what to say. Your kindness is very much overwhelming. I'm truly deeply touched. I hope to contribute something to this very wonderful group. Thanks so much for your encouragement. Seems like we all have great potential for empowering one another, especially when it's for such a just and worthy cause. Thanks again.![]()

I believe that it should be perfectly lawful to print even things that outrage the pruderies and prejudices of the general, so long as any honest minority, however small, wants to read them. The remedy of the majority is not prohibition, but avoidance.

Hello. My name is Beth and Thomas asked me to join. You both are correct. Recently a petition was put out here to save our Veteren's hospital be saved. The majority ruled but the veterens and familes, the minority.were enough to win our petion and to keep our hospital here. So yes, most of the mininority rules. Also here in Fort Wayne, a new tv series was to be shown on our local cbs station. The majority ruled, but the minority, which was the christians and local businesses ,again won! CBS did not want to lose their backers. The series being petitioned: The Book Of Daniel. I guess it depends on the subject.Huh? Beth

I have never worked for fame or praise, and shall not feel their loss as I otherwise would. I have never for a moment lost sight of the humble life I was born to, its small environments, and the consequently little right I had to expect much of myself, and shall have the less to censure, or upbraid myself with for the failures I must see myself make.(Clara Barton (1821-1912), U.S. Civil War nurse and founder of the American Red Cross. As quoted in Angel of the Battlefield, ch. 19, by Ishbel Ross (1956). Barton wrote this in 1903, at a time when her Presidency of the American Red Cross was being challenged. She had been born one of five children to a North Oxford, Massachusetts family in modest circumstances.)

When we can drain the Ocean into mill-ponds, and bottle up the Force of Gravity, to be sold by retail, in gas jars; then may we hope to comprehend the infinitudes of man's soul under formulas of Profit and Loss; and rule over this too, as over a patent engine, by checks, and valves, and balances.(Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881), Scottish essayist, historian. Signs of the Times, first published in Edinburgh Review, no. 98 (1829).)

No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting. She will not want new fashions nor regret the loss of expensive diversions or variety of company if she can be amused with an author in her closet.(Mary Wortley, Lady Montagu (1689-1762), British society figure, letter writer. Letter, June 22, 1752, to her daughter Lady Bute. Selected Letters, ed. Robert Halsband (1970). Advising her on bringing up Lady Bute's own daughter.)
