Sponsored children February 09, 2006 12:44 PM

Hi friends,i just find time to complete all the stories of my sponsored children on my page.On the website it's a lot harder to do,and i dont know how. There are a few sad stories in though,BEFORE the sponsorship.....If I only can inspire one person to sponsor a child,my life will have been worthwile,I will have made a difference!

I rather save 5-6 children then have a diamond on my hand. The real diamond, beauty is in your heart, which will sparkle in your eyes for everyone on your path to warm their hearts.

It's a lovely idea, Greet! February 09, 2006 12:58 PM

I sponsor 3 children through Children International that I found, of course, through Care2.  One is from India, another from the Dominican Republic and the third is from Guatemala.  The website is below but if you click every day, you will see the children in need of sponsors every day.

Children International
Make a difference in a child's life for $18 a month. Sponsor today!

I have not had any contact with World Vision but it seems a very good orgnisation.

International Child
Sponsor a child from 16p a day Help the world's poorest children
www.worldvision.org.uk

I sponsor a child from Haiti through Action Aid UK but they have an international site too.

Action Aid
Sponsor a child today and change And change a life forever.

I don't want to take attention from the petition.

But, if you aren't already, please consider sponsoring a less-fortunate child.  It's just $18/month, and when you give a little extra, you get a letter telling you just what the "little extra" got for your little one and their family.

It might not seem like much, but it makes me feel good to know that I got my little sponsee some new clothes, shoes, bedsheets/linens, and an electric fan (must be a god-send in the Dominican Republic)!

thanks!

I sponsor 2 children, a girl (Christian) from Kenya, Africa and, since the Tsunami in Asia, a boy (Buddhist) from Sri Lanka. I have also convinced my sister to sponsor a girl (Buddhist) in Cambodia and my mother sponsors a girl (Muslim) in West Africa. I would love to sponsor more. I love getting their drawings and letters.
I have in the past sponsored with World Vision, but found it too 'singular'. I prefer to be able to sponsor children from a variety of backgrounds. I feel it helps to promote greater religious tolerance.

I sponsor through PLAN INTERNATIONAL. I don't know if it is similar or associated with Child International. I also donate to Heifer.org at Christmas in honour of friends. They receive a card explaining how Heifer works.

I especially like Heifer's concept of 'Passing on the Gift', which I see as very empowering for the original recipient as well as offering new bonds of friendship and hope in communities.

Hi, thank you Greet, for all that you are doing. I sponsor many children through Children International, Compassion, and other agencies. I have set up a Care2 group to promote child sponsorship for anyone who is interested and another one for child sponsors to share. I hope that this will generate more interest for this cause!

looking for help and/or ideas April 14, 2006 2:01 PM

Does anyone know how to make some quick money easily? I am severly physically disabled with many health problems so I am very limited to what I can do. But I have have many sponsored children. I can't afford to pay for them this month, maybe not next. I don't want to give any of them up so I'm hoping to get the money quickly. I have been able to afford it til lately. The past few months I have been in the emergency room 4 times so I got way behind in things. Even if you can't help thank you for taking the time to read this. Selena, may god put blessings on you for giving even when you have nothing. I hope the money comes your way, have faith. I am sponsoring a girl, Crystal from Ecuador. The good thing about World Vision, is you can sponsor an entire family for just $40. Currently, I am looking to sponsor a child from a war-torn country, particularly Bosnia where my husband is from. Anyone know of any sites promoting sponsorship of refugee children, please let me know.

thanks May 18, 2006 1:50 PM

Thanks for wishing me blessings. It makes me feel good to help others. So far I haven't gotten the money. I'm going to pay for this month and keep hoping the money comes to me to pay for last month. I was sponsoring Janeth from Ecuador. I sponsored her for a few years. When she turned 18 her family took her out of the sponsorship program. I miss her a lot. I didn't know that about World Vision. At http://www.sos-usa.org/  you can sponsor a village of children for $20, I think. They are mostly orphaned children place in a home like setting. With all my sponsored kids I don't know if I can afford to do anymore, like SOS or World Vision. I don't know of any sites promoting sponsorship of refugee children.

Best Regards,

Selena

Thanks for letting me know about the village sponsorship. Orphans and refugees really pull at my heartstrings the most. They have nothing, no family no mother. Having to grow up surrounded by war. I wish I could help every single one.
I think I will put this picture on my bulletin board.

My sponsored kids January 28, 2009 8:54 AM

Jack is from Zambia, and he just turned 13!  I've sponsored him since he was 9, and he's growing up fast!  Ingrid is from Guatemala, and she is nearly 17.  They are doing so well now!  They both want to be teachers-I am encouraging that as much as I can in my letters.  I was first inspired to sponsor kids through Children International because of CARE2's Click for Children site!  So click every day!  It IS helping!

...we also have the Child Health Site:
http://www.thechildhealthsite.com/
clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=5

About the Child Health site:

The Child Health Site is dedicated to funding simple and very effective preventatives and treatments with the goal of robust child health around the globe. Your daily click funds the administration of Vitamin A to prevent life-threatening childhood illness and disease as well as one preventable cause of childhood blindness; the manufacture and fitting of children's prostheses so that a child injured by a landmine or other accident can still walk, run and play and still has a fighting chance to be a productive contributor in his or her society as an adult; eye surgeries that can reverse one kind of childhood blindness; and HIV testing that will alert medical personnel that a mother may pass the infection onto her child at birth so that she can be treated and the newborn spared of this terrible disease. When you click, once per day, every day, you are helping to get these types of treatments and services to the children who need them most.

On average, over 70,000 individuals from around the world visit the site each day to click the blue "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button. To date, more than 100 million visitors have helped more than 2,161,000 children.
