Molly and McGee are both in the box at this moment just rockin' back and forth. I took this off the red-pin and blue-pinned it for now... hoping eggs will be the result soon. Some spammer has wrecked the chatroom so I can't see what's going on. What idiots these people are. How can someone feel good about wrecking and spamming! Sheesh! To them I say:
July 16th - both in the box... both sleepy and rocking... I hope there's some hanky panky tonight because we want some eggs!
I'm soooooo proud of you too, Mary! When the new owls are "born"... and hummers.... next spring the eagles... we will have so many pics!
Mary, you did it! I'm so proud of you..that's a fantastic screen shot!!
i think i got it at last thanks Cheryl
Just checked in on Molly and she's rocking back and forth with her eyes closed. It's just a matter of time before an egg comes, hopefully. I think Dale and Roy will have some hatchings not long from now. They've had the eggs for ... what, 2 weeks? If that's the case it will be about 2 more weeks before we see a chick. So exciting!
Lynn and Mary and anyone else peeking in - great shot, Lynn. That's our Mr. McGee with the white breast. He looks pretty sleepy. I still think it's strange why they never seem to lay down. My legs hurt just seeing them standing all the time. lol
I wonder when we'll see some eggs - soon I hope. I WANT TO SEE FUZZY BABES again!! I get so hooked on these families. They are like a daily fix of some sort and calm my nerves.
what a great shot they look sleepy don't they?
Hi there MsDeb! I hope you join us to watch the fun when the eggs are laid and the owlets are "born." It's quite funny to watch them grow up!
So this is what it looks like. I saw articles in the paper about this the last time (I live in a nearby city) and wondered what it was all about...
Hi Lynn and Mary. Yes... we may have some baby "hoots" here... I was going to say "hooters" but I think that word is used for something entirely different!
She is so cute right now, basically in the same position as last pic but she's rocking back and forth, and her beek is moving as if she's saying a little prayer with her eyes closed. I can hardly wait for the first egg. McGee is probably bringing her meals.
Cheryl, what a fantastic shot! We may be hearing tiny hoots in this nest soon. I haven't had a chance to look at the nest today and it's getting late. I'll do it tomorrow. Take care, my friends.
Hi Mary... aren't they beautiful? I just caught Molly all by herself. That could mean.... that she may start laying eggs? I like this owl box better because of the colour, but I don't want to not watch Roy & Dale because of that. I guess I'm spoiled!
they are fast asleep rocking from side to side i hope you girls post lots of pictures
Just peeked in on these two and it seems there's a nice covering of feathers on the 'floor'. I don't think they would be in the box if they weren't going to raise another family. I'm trying to keep tabs on what the chatters are saying.
Hi Lynn and Mary - I wonder why my picture "popped" at the top of thread. I've turned thread.
You are really doing well with those screenshots, Lynn. I guess it's what time of the day we are looking at them as to whether we can see them clearly.
Here's our Mr. McGee (such a handsome fellow) yesterday:
And here's our pretty Lady Molly:
And here's the two lovebirds today (I love it when they do that sideways head thing):
I wonder why they never sit down, except when Molly is on eggs. Storks like to stand all the time, too. I hope we see some eggs pretty soon because these babes are so much fun to watch.
I hope you're both having a wonderful Saturday. It was our Canada Day yesterday, but it's lasting all weekend with fireworks, etc. Prince William and his bride Kate (Catherine) were in Ontario yesterday and they will be making their way here to BC. I can't help but see the difference with this couple compared to Charles and Diana when they came here shortly after they married. William DOESN'T have to be the main attraction and looks like he enjoys the attention Kate is getting. Charles was jealous over the attention Diana got. That was really sad.
Hi Cheryl and Lynn i can only see a little bit of screen , i'l try again later
i can only see a small corner of the picture mostly their backs maybe its a glitch of some kind is yours ok?
Our beloved couple is back to hopefully raise another brood of babes! New eggs, new lives, new funny faces to get acquainted with!
And a new story begins....
The Owl Box is located in San Marcos, CA. This is Mollys Third Clutch. Barn Owls are about 14 to 16 inches tall. Incubation takes 30 to 34 days. Owlets hatch in order laid. Molly and McGee have sucessfully fledged 10 owlets.
The male has a white chest and face, while the female is more camouflaged and rufous in color with spots. The male usually shows up after dark. We have named the female Molly and the male McGee. The Barn Owl is widespread and can be found in most parts of the world. They are mostly nocturnal and rarely observed in flight during daylight hours but light does not hurt, harm or bother barn owls. They are often seen looking out during daylight hours on bright sunny days.
