Hi to everyone involved in this wonderful group.
I am already a fully qualified and trained Marine Mammal Medic,I took my training with The British Divers Marine Life Rescue last year in Dorset,UK.
As a SCUBA Diver and soon to be Marine Biology Student(studying Conservation) this is a subject VERY dear to my Heart.
I will be posting on here from time to time and will certainly keep an eye on what is going on and subject matter being discussed.
It's always good be a part of something that involves like minded people, coming together, to take positive action towards helping the Planet and it's Beautiful Diversity of life,from the constant threats imposed upon it from MAN and TECHNOLOGY!

I'm from Franklin Ohio...I'm originally from Ann Arbor, MI. I've been to various sites, but none like this!! For once, I've found a site to call home! Always having been sensitive to environmental issues (esp. the welfare of animals), I've always wanted to be a part of the group(s) that actually care just as much as I do, and do something about it.
Anyway, I'm a mom of 4 children, whom are facing a grave future if things don't change for the better. I'm prepared to step up and work to teach my kids about how important it is to "care" about the land they live on. It's nice to have all of you here for support in the causes I find important. Thank You!

Hi. I'm Ila. I'm very interested in harp seals - i.e. the "seal hunt" in Canada. I'd love to see precious little baby harp seals from being slaughtered every year. I really love orcas too. There's a killer whale (Lolita's her name) in the Miami Seaquarium (Seaprison) who is suffering. That "amusement" park is dangerous for animals & people alike. People to include myself are trying to do something about it. There are so many issues with marine animals alone. Incidentally I'm taking a marine bio class at college this fall. We're very lucky to have this class at my school. I'm looking very forward to it. Well, gotta run. Bye!

I can hardly ever bring myself to watch footage of seals being killed, this is something I have seen for the first time as a child and it has always stuck with me. I am a vegetarian and oppose all fishing, obviously.
I wish I could be out there like some of you and actively, physically do something.

When I was about 11-14 or 15, my mom and I worked with a seal/sea lion rescue group in Laguna Beach, called Friends of the Sea Lion. It was extremely rewarding, such an incredible experience! I learned so much and my days on the beach were so much better spent by finding and alerting "adult" rescuers to a stranded, injured or sick sea lion. That group has expanded and are now called the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, or something close to that...
Anyway, I am happy to be here!
