I had a rooster who lost his feet one extra cold winter and after that he spent his winters in my greenhouse. Then I had an Indian Runner duck that got injured and I put her in there too. It wasent long before they had bonded as a couple, and the duck layed a clutch of eggs among my empty flower pots. I knew her eggs would not hatch so I got a few malard eggs from a friend. Only one hatched. They were a very loving family, the rooster did seem to think there was something wrong with the baby, but he was very good to them and they were always together even after they went back outside.

That is the sweetest thing I've heard in a long time.  Just adorable.  That totally made my day!

This is one of my favorite stories, and I think Patricia may have another one brewing.
