Introductions March 31, 2006 12:20 PM Here, we can introduce ourselves...tell us a little bit about yourself and what you would like to work on in regards to animals... for myself, I am a full time student, majoring in Spanish. I volunteer at the Humane Society and I am a pet parent of two kitties. I feel very strongly against chaining and tethering of dogs. My name is Maree, I am a mum to two beautiful daughters, 26 & 16, have 2 dogs, 1 cat and numerous fish and birds.. I live in the land down under, Perth Western Australia.. Have always loved and protected animals to the best of my abilities and finances.. I was the kid that bought all the strays home and loved and cuddled them to pieces laughing I recently re-entered the work force and am adjusting to 2am get yourself out of this warm bed and get ready for work laughing I am online as often as I can be.. This area is home to many animals, Deer, Bear, Coyotes, Bobcats and even a stray Mountian lion or two, thanks to our game comm. I find animals make as good or better friends than a lot of humans do. LuAnn B.	June 14, 2006 5:42 PM Oops. Brain freeze. :p I live in rural Kentucky with a hubby, 2 sons (9 and 8) and 1 daughter (3). I work in an 'intermediate care facility' for adults with develop/mental disabilities. I've heard charity begins at home, so I guess issues dealing with feral animals and farm animals would be closest to my heart, but out here in the sticks we also believe in helping our neighbors. June 14, 2006 7:02 PM Thanks Jessie for the invite - I love animals - all animals - I joined Care2 for the Big Cats and now I can't post there - technical difficulties & all my ltrs have made no difference - nice responses, but no real action so I'm still Clicking to donate every day I can and signing petitions left and right and I can write a "mean" letter letter - lots of experience. I'm a mom - 2 wonderful adults; 31 and 23. My animal family members are Poodachious (the Grand-kat) and Weesa (Cherokee for Cat), a very spoiled Cockatiel named, "Cricket" and a parakeet named "Scooter." I can not stand animal abuse in any form and I suffer w/the animal - I think I avoided helping for years because I didn't want to "see" the abuse or know it existed and guess what, it didn't go away! I want to do all I can. I will write letters, call, etc. If anyone can point me in the right direction to get started, I'm there. I just know I can't do this at night. I didn't sleep last night, and like a dummy, I am on again, and I know I'll think about these precious trusting animals. Liena K.	July 06, 2006 4:32 AM Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself. My name is Liena, living in Latvia. I work in 2 dog shelters and i`m very active member of 2 Latvia`s animal protection groups. I am the youngest person in Latvia who have ever got cynological sertificate and i study dogs and humans psychology by myself, so in shelter i work with dogs who are aggresive or frightened because of having psychical traumas. As you see dogs are what i care the most. I have a dog who have suffered from violence first 6 years of his life, i took him from shelter before 5 years and now only scars on his body reminds about his past. I have two cats (mama and her daughter) i took them from street before 2 months. As a bonus for my little zoo is 2 guinea pigs wich i took from shelter too. At the moment i`m fighting about philippine dogs, Latvia`s organisations didn`t want to support it so now i`m collecting signs for my petition and actually i don`t care that noone helps me and there is no guarantee that it will be successful but at least i feel that i`m doing something for them! Actually it`s possible that next year i`ll move to philippines ti live there BUT how can i live there knowing that maybe some dog is being killed at my neighboors house for dinner? I belive that together we WILL change all these things in future (near or far future - it`s up to ourselfs). And sorry for my english, still learning it =] [ send green star] [ accepted]

October 24, 2006 11:28 AM My name is Jodi.Here in Utah I am a big support of local humane society,and other animal org.I recently adopted a dog (Saddie) from a local shelter.She is perfect andd I did alot of research to find her...Finding a animal out of the paper can be wrong sometimes even with the best heat...Alot of people are not honest about the age,shots,etc,,, and if the pet is not good for kids,,Sad alot of these animals get taken to the pound after the owner sees that this animal is not ok...I was one of them..Before I adopted saddie for my kid and I over amonth ago,I thought maybe a cat and we looked for a month on-line,animal places and came acrooss a cat that needed a good home,,,,the owner even brought him to us,andd acted like it was a horribly deal getting rid of him to a new home....well,i was told he was age 3(not) had shots/fixes(NOT).....and that she was moving and could not take him.....well we had him for seven days,and from start moment to end moment,,,this cat bit my thumb almost off and thank god is me,,,he stayed under the sink,no eating no food,no catbox,,,,it was all on him....i went to the er,animal control came,and he was so ill that his two front teeth brokwe on my thumb bone,,,this poor cat was 10yrs old,,the pet vet card she gave me was bogus,,,he still had his thing,and no shots,,,,it made me sick for this poor cat,but animal control took him,and put him down,,he was so thin,etc,,,and i guess i saved him from a worse death,but i had no choice,,,,he didnt have rabies,,thank god,but every other cat disease out there almost...i learned that getting a pet,,,and yes i new better,,from someone you dont know or that i never checked out was wrong,,,,i know the biggest reasons reasons people take there pets to the pound is that they cant train them to be what they want or they are sicklk,,,,,,,dso yes this is long,but i have been involved in alot of raides,trapping feral cats,etc,,,,,and i will do what else i can do.....i am disabled,and without a car,but believe i have a voice>>>>>thanks [ send green star] [ accepted]

I'm very passionate about animal welfare, and I'd like to research as many solutions as possible to prevent much of the cruelty to animals in existance today. I recently worked for several years as a veterinary assistant. Just yesterday, I joined the League of Humane Voters. I hope to, at some point, start a local branch for western Ohio. NEED HELP WITH PUPPY MILLS AND WHALE SLAUGHTER June 11, 2008 6:48 PM Hello, I'm Morgan and live in the country outside of San Diego with 5 dogs and about 30 some birds and a whole lot of wildlife outside my door. I've been active in petitions and letter writing, emailing and calling on various issues. I have decided recently that I wanted to do more to help on a personal level so I have decided to focus my energies on ending whale slaughter and puppy mills. I have decided to start a massive contact campaign to anyone who can help with either issue and to those that profit from either such as pet stores that sell live animals that line the pockets of the mills, restaurants and markets that sell whale meat, countries and companies that are complicent in these practices anything at all. I have been asking for contacts for anyone that I can write to. I will be reading the threads here to help in my letter writing. I thank anyone who might be able to supply me with contacts.
