Those can possibly be the hardest words to say in any Language, if a person is sincere.

The only way I know in Arabic is: ismah leh ( more like "Excuse Me")

Ani mitzta'eret (female)

Ani mitzta'er (male)

or, more formally, I guess you could say this is more like I regret as in a phrase like "I'm sorry to hear bad news..." etc etc :

tzar li

Ani mitzta'eret - my computer froze!

Words connected with the root letters "tz-'a-r" are connected with sorrow.

There is another Hebrew way of saying sorry which is with the root letters "s-l-h" which is connected to forgiveness:

Sliha

This expresses a request for forgiveness - I'm sorry for something I did, but it's also used to mean "excuse me" or just plain "I'm sorry".

Lo siento is in spanish expresses the same as I am sorry saying forgive me is another thing and that is perdoname, or perdoneme this is to make clear the difference that other person in the topic claims is the same and it is not quite the same.  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

Bulgarian October 22, 2007 10:31 PM

Bulgarian
in Bulgarian "Съжалявам" pronounced "sazhialiavam". More formal way to say that is "Прощавайте" pronounced "proshtavaite" and the informal version is "Извинявай" - "izviniavay".

P.S.: I am sorry but if anyone could help me that would be great. I want to know how to write and pronounce this in Japanese - "I am really sorry. I was supposed to be a 2006 gift, not 2007."
