I'm not a yoga teacher but I hope to one day. What does one need to do to be certified? I've been online looking at some classe. I'm seriously thinking about being certifiied simply because I have met so many people interested in doing yoga.
I work for an Episcopal Church as a church administrator. I get phone calls all the time about whether or not we teach yoga. When I lived in the DC area, there were plenty of churches that offered weekly classes - free of charge. I think there was a donation jar set out.
There aren't any Episcopal Churches around here that offer yoga, but there is definately an interest.
There are so many teacher training programs available these days. I found a program by searching online. There are different class formats available these days. You can study part-time over the course of a year or there are concentrated courses that are a month straight (kind of like a Yoga bootcamp) and many other mixes in between those two extremes.
I loved my teacher training...it has changed my life in so many ways. It's a great way to deepen your practice and then you can share what you learned with others in your community. Let me know if you have any questions about the training or the process of becoming a teacher.
And welcome Tania!!!!!
I am not new to this group, but I haven't been here in over a year, so I thought I'd reintroduce myself. My name is Natalie and I teach Yoga and meditation to both children and adults. I have been personally practicing yoga for almost a decade now. I LOVE it!!!!!!
