Hello! Welcome Yoga Teachers! Please tell us a little about yourself. What type of yoga do you teach? Do you teach at a single studio, multiple studios, or have your own business? How long have you been teaching? Why do you love it? Do you have teaching mantra or favorite quote? We'd love to hear about it! Namaste, Kristen

I'll start...I teach Vinyasa Flow with an emphasis on alignment. I'm starting my own business and I've been teaching for 8 months. I volunteer teach to middle school kids once a week. I love the connection with my students and watching them develop into Yogis. My favorite part about teaching is when my students get as excited about classes as I do. I don't have a teaching mantra yet but I do have a favorite quote, "Make a conscious choice to shine light on your world." ~Bernice Johnson-Reagan I started this group to meet teachers who share the same passion for yoga, teaching, and self-discovery. I look forward to reading all of your responses. Namaste, Kristen

Patanjali and the yoga sutras are very important to me as well. Learning the sutras has had a great effect on my life. I'm not familar with the 'Gerhanda Samhita' but will be sure to check it out. As of now, I primarily teach Asanas & Meditation. With more experience, I will most definitely teach the bandhas and pranayama. The books I've been turning to most recently are "Guiding Yoga's Light" by Nancy Gerstein and '30 Essential Yoga Poses" by Judith Lasater, Ph.D., P.T. I also read the Yoga Journal monthly. I'd love to hear about other good books/resources for both teaching and personal practice.
Hi from Scotland

HI all

I'm a Yoga teacher in Scotland. My teacher is Kausthub Desikachar, and I study in the Krishnamacharya tradition (sometimes mistakenly known as Viniyoga). You can see a little more about my thoughts on Yoga at my website.

I'm interested in making genuine connections with people, across the net or in person when the possibility arises, and learning from everyone that I meet.

I teach in a variety of locations - Yoga is quite popular here, but not really got the population to support many stuidio's so I teach in church halls, hospitals and holistic therapy centres. My main interest is (predictably) Yoga as a healing modality, and I have a special interest in Yoga for Pregnancy.

Nice to meet you all!

Take care,

Scott

I am studying to teach at the moment. Not long to go now ... we hope. I am 23 and Irish born and bred. I am quite nervous about branching into my own teaching so i will probably be back regularly to ask for advice.

Congrats! I'm sure you will find teaching to be very rewarding. I know I have! It really brings your own practice to a new level. It's always a little nerve-wracking at first but you'll soon become comfortable.
