Israeli apologists April 10, 2006 11:37 PM

Let us forget, momentarily, the ethnic cleansing of 1947-48. Since at least 1967, Israel has been on a course of aggressive territorial expansion. It has withdrawn from certain places for strategic reasons, but elsewhere it has used aggressive colonisation as a means toward a de facto annexation of Palestinian lands. The settlements are, after all, highly motivated extensions of Israeli sovereignty. These expanded throughout the "peace process" and continue to do so to this day, with no end in sight. The "security wall" is the latest expansion of the Israeli pattern of creating "facts on the ground": in this case, new de facto borders taht leave large chunks of the West Bank inside of Israel.

This is the reality that apologists for Israel must either obfuscate or defend. Trying to side step the issue by stating that other states are guilty of atrocities, while true, is not a convincing defense of Israel's own actions. When this fails, the usual retort is "why is everybody always picking on Israel?" and implying that the answer must be anti-semitism.

In reality, the opposition to Israel's actions by many people is in large part a response to widespread support for those action in North America. There are few apologists for Sudan's actions in Darfur or for the Arab regimes that mistreat Palestinians (as well as their own people), and fewer still are raising money to support these activities. But in North America it is considered acceptable to finacially and politically support Israel's expansionist project in the West Bank. As long as this support continues, it is perfectly reasonable for people in North America, and anywhere else that the circumstances are the same, to challenge it.

In the US April 11, 2006 11:57 AM

there is also blind support for Israel among many Christian fundamentalists including the fundamentalist in the Oval Office.  Their beliefs concerning "the end times", i.e. Israel must be controlled by Jews before Jesus will come again, result in this blind support.

The 'Talmud Terrorist' aka Shadowbear/Dov 'Cubsaver' September 07, 2006 1:41 AM

I was reading something on Human Rights Network and came across an Israeli apologist's post, someone on Care2.com who is really active and well-known for defending Israeli human rights abuses:

http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=67&pst=711477

I hope as many members as possible can get active and challenge this member's racism. Does the irony escape him that he posts his support for human rights abuses... on a HUMAN RIGHTS FORUM?

i know monique September 07, 2006 6:32 AM

the hypocrisy drips from sbc's and ket's posts about how it is ok to kill the palestinian and lebanese people while posting on the "human rights" thread. it amazes me that they do not recognize the sick irony of it all.

I hate hasbaraniks and how they invade groups and post nonsensical posts, criticise everyone, and so on.  That is the worst thing about myspace is the Hasbaraniks invade those groups to disrupt.

I applied to Join the Down with Israeli Occupation and Propaganda group.

I want to find an effective way to network and fight Israeli oppression.

Thank you.

There is a lot of disinformation out there and it is hard to network with other people who are serious about this issue. Nothing will be done until there is a coalition which is stronger than AIPAC.

Hasbaraniks are like the people who fight gun control in the USA. They repeat the same, discredited stories, yet are able to control the issue. They stop any real action from being taken.

This has to stop!

Israeli Apologists December 15, 2007 7:04 PM

The apologists...  I don't see too many taking real action...

The mainstream media is controlled/owned by the Zionist machine.  No wonder we can only get twisted news on these.  I quit relying on these a long time ago.

Amazing how they infiltrate in any anti-zionist group, at least until they blow their cover, which usually happens pretty fast.

It seems to me that the best way to deal with them is to boycott ALL Israeli products.  (If anyone needs the list, let me know).  Another thing we can do is to expose what they are doing and let everyone know.

The Zionists have been responsible for WWI, WWIII, and they are now ready for WWIII.  You see how they are itching to bomb Iran despite the fact that Iran has been cleared by the IAEA, the NIE....  They brutally invaded Palestine in 1948 and their crimes haven't stopped since then.

There will not be any peace possible in the ME until these guys give the land back to the rightful owners, the Palestinians.  Now the Palestinians are the ones suffering along with Lebanon...  If they want peace, there is an easy solution:  Zionists out of Palestine and go back to wherever you came from...  If they want a homeland, they should establish it where no one lives yet.

Their ultimate goal is world domination.  They already control pretty much everything.  They even have altered our history books.

A site with a lot of info:  http:///www.iamthewitness.com

PS:  I am so happy to have been invited to join this group and not be labelled as "incendiary", "inflammatory", and of course "anti-semitic" everytime I open my mouth!  Funny thing that they call us anti-semetic, when the Ashkenazi Jews are not from Semitic descent.  They are Khazars, and therefore caucasians!

This is so true, Michael and Shane!  But, let's not forget that we are over 6 billion people on this planet.  Soon or later, we will win.

Evil has a way to self-destruct.  This is what will eventually happen to them, hopefully before they have killed the last Palestinian alive!

We really need to  double our efforts...  It's getting worse here since Harper became Prime Minister.  The Canadian flag could as well be this:

jf

They are really taking over everywhere....  Things have changed and not for the best here...  The PM is an Israeli Apologist and according to him, Israel can't do any wrong...

Thanks for the warning Monique!

I just had to have a look at this page because this guy is on care2guru group, of which I am a member.  Zabulon is a Jew, a Danish Jew I think he says, and his wife is Ketutar.

This is what he thinks about anti-semites is that they make great snacks...   I'll try to find this image and post it.

He his a great supporter of Israel.  By "anti-semitic", I don't know if what he means is "anti-zionist."  We all know the differences and he may also know it or not.  I don't know the guy.

Monique February 02, 2008 4:04 PM

I do my best to challenge as much as i can the propaganda posted in HRN- not only about Israel, without being barred from the group as so many others have. I feel it's important to try and stay in a group as large as HRN, simply because it is such a large group and therefore influential.

anonymous boycotting Israeli Products April 24, 2009 8:50 AM

Perhaps we should boycott U.S. products as well?  The U.S. supports the atrocities carried out by the Israeli government, and arms them as well.  While this may not be a practical tactic for many who live in the U.S, I just wanted to post this lest we forget that it is our (U.S.) hegemonic foreign policy which is at the root of much of the violence in the middle east.

anonymous two interesting books re: Israelli apologists and debunking them April 24, 2009 9:14 AM

One apologist author, who has debated with, and been owned by, Noam Chomsky is Alan Dershowitz.  The book I am thinking of is The Case for Peace: How the Arab-Israeli Conflict Can be Resolved. Talk about effective propaganda!!

As far as debunking the apologists, Norman G. Finkelstein has an informative book called: Beyond Chutzpah: On the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and the Abuse of History, which explains just what many of you mentioned here in these posts.  Chomsky is my favorite author.  Please forgive if this is redundant information as I am new here, and just getting to know the group.

Just to clear things up, Alan Dershowitz did write The Case for Peace, but also wrote The Case for Israel.  It is the latter which author Norman Finkelstein debunks in his controversial Beyond Chutzpah
