The closest ancestor to the human race is a little known and highly endangered primate called the Bonobo.
These creatures have been called "cupids ape" because they tend to resolve all potentially conflicts by making "love not war". They are gentle creatures that live in the congo and are being pushed to the brink of extinction because of deforestation, hunting and civil war.
There are many who say the real reason for the turmoil in the Congo is because of multinational corporations determined to get their hands on Congo's Gold, Silver and Uranium deposits; by rights the Congo should be one of the worlds richest countries but whilst so many of our corporations are paying "rebel forces" for access to resources things are unlikely to change.
Let's all put pressure on our governments to fix this problem properly by getting our corporates to stop funding the destruction of the Bonobo, lets all sign this petition:
Hi George, Andy et all, glad to be here and have signed and will forward. Will also invite friends to group. George, you know that I am always up for actions but have very little time to visit the groups so pls pass on anything that needs to be done.

I signed both petitions. I do hope we can prevent the extermination of our closest relatives. It is so very tragic and makes me ashamed to be a human being.
Thanks for the invitation George.
Hugs,
Elainna

There's a number of websites listed in our Bonobo information thread.
Agnes, did you notice George Bush is implicated in some of the corporate misdeeds in Congo? Might be worth looking into that further.

If you are unfamiliar with the subject of vivisection and need more information please start with one of these sites, they should answer most of your questions.
If we are ever going to start to put a stop to this we need your help, stand up for the poor animals that can't stand up for themselves, be a voice for the ones that died last night while chemicals ate holes through their little bodies, the ones that died while being operated on yesterday without anesthesia, or the ones that will suffer all day today without relief from pain medications. Tell these people we now know the truth about what they are really doing and tell them we will not stand for it any longer. Their experiments are not relevant to humans, they produce repetitive science and unreliable medicine.
Please inform all your organizations members and staff about this petition, tell anyone who will listen, and please feel free to post a link to it. Please help us free these nonhuman primates that share so much of our same sense of being. Please help our numbers grow !!!
While we appreciate any and all signatures we get please give every individual person a chance to sign this petition as opposed to signing as one large group, this helps our numbers to grow. As you can imagine, 3,400 primates, cages, housing, torture equipment and the amount of money this university brings in because of these primates is very substantial, honestly, it's huge. It will take a record number of signatures to make an impression on these people, our goal is atleast 100,000 signatures, I honestly believe there is that many people in this world that cares about the fate of these primates.
