Hi I'm George, I've started this group because I was surprised how little information is available on the threat to the Bonobo and I think it deserves special attention.

Hi, my name is Nikki. Thank you George for starting this group. It would be fabulous to think that Bonobos can be saved from extinction. I have signed your petition and look forward to learning more about our closest relative in the animal kingdom.
Thanks for this group, and for the invite you posted in the Petition Site center.
Strange how sometimes the "easiest" ideas are the ones we don't formulate. You know why?
==> Last year, I adopted a pseudonym as my poet identity: Bonobo. I did so in order to draw more attantion to these beautiful, peaceful, but highly endangered beings.
This is the avatar I am using in authors' online platforms:
There's an error on this photo I forgot to correct (since I normally use a German text): Lexi, too, is a female, not a son. All three on the photo are females.
Aren't they beautiful? They radiate peace, calmness and even wisdom.
Quite interesting. I've only heard a little about the critters. If I recall correctly when I was a kid, there was one somebody had raised as a human baby and it caused quite an uproar as it had so many human traits that a question arouse as to if it was an ape or a deformed human. I was young at the time and can't remember much about it. It would have been some time in the 1940s. Maybe somebody here could help and see if any info about that still exists. I'll look too.

thankyou for the invite, it is great you have established a group with this aim and purpose: to save these wonderful creatures , who are almost our brothers and sisters, we are so much alike.....i read it should be 99 per cent ......so only one percent is missing and they are humans, like us, my big hope is : they will be able to survive, and live in good surroundings in their normal ones, and have plenty of joy and live their family lives, in peace and without any interference. good luck, love, inge and mikkilino, denmark.

Thank you so much for the invite Andreas, and to Agnes for mentioning me to you!
I'm really happy to join this group - as I feel Bonobos are a species we as human beings can really learn from - they are so closely related to us - we should now share more than just genetic similarities with them!
Just joined! Hello to every one! I hope I will have the time to be active in this group; it is one group that touches me a lot.

Howdy there,
Glad to be here to support the chimps. Fantastic pictures...makes my heart glad.
Hello, I just joined this group after seeing your post in the Nature Lovers group.
I learned about Bonobos for the first time a couple of years ago in a course I was taking on the philosophy of genetics. We had to read Nature Via Nurture by Matt Ridley. There was a whole chapter comaring the size of male chimpanzee reproductive organs and they found that bonobos were the largest and this correlated to them being the least violent and the greatest lovers of the great apes! Isn't science interesting!
I think there's quite a bit of mileage to be had in using the Bonobo's randy behaviour to help spread awareness and save it.
Lets work on a very tongue in cheek press release about our new group, see if we can come up with something that will inspire the worlds press.
What do you think?
Also, how about an alternative spam email - "humans need Cialis, Bonobos don't" "Did you know, the bigger your penis, the nicer you are?"
I think we need to forget that Bonobo's are under threat and concentrate on their unusual behaviour to come up with a media campaign to get the whole world interested. Then, once people are inspired with the Bonobo, we can slap them with the facts and get them to start lobbying.
I have a cunning plan.....
We need some graphics artists and web people I reckon.
And the fact that we are not an "official" organisation means that we could bring a whole new angle to the campaign that organisations with reputations may be weary of.
Thank you for the invitation, I look forward to learning more about this amazing animail. I won't be online very much for a while as I must use the computers at the Library. I can only seem to acquire the minute sets as the others are always in use. Thanks again, Pale

There's quite a bit of work to do. Somehow we need to get the message to our media that the Bonobos are under serious threat. I think we need to start a letter writing campaign and we could do with some help there.

Thank you for allowing me to join you in your crusade.I am a disabled woman who needs to do some good in the world.I could sit at home and just play games or some other mindless activity. But i need to be constructive at this point of my life.
Don't get me wrong,i enjoy games. My children are grown with their own little people.I love my 5 grandchildren but there is more to life.By doing these things, i.e. petitions, daily clicks,I can be an example to them.
I am a registered medical assistant.I also worked as an on the job trainer for "First Union Bank n.a."(Now -Wachovia")in customer service and teller training. My hubby went blind 1 1/2 years ago due to "a detatched retina"in 3 different locations of the eye, over a 3 month span.Hw was already blind in the other eye.I survived ovarian cancer 8years,WOOHOO.Now it is nerve damage in my back and leg.
I'm still here, been going through some changes, but have just got back from a month of campaigning. I think it's important to keep telling people about the bonobo. They seem to keep forgetting.
I am really trying to reach George. I am hoping we can do some more bonobo work togethyer. You are using some of my pictures and I wouldreally like to talk with you.
Any chance you can email me?
