Spreading the word - Can YOU help! May 11, 2006 1:48 AM

The world is a curious place. Care2 is filled to the brink with Animal lovers yet after a week the Bonobo petition only has 500 signatures.

Ordinarily we would think this is doing really well, but the Bonobo petition is such a no brainer that one has to wonder what is stopping people from signing?

Probably the greatest thing stopping people from signing is the fact that very few people have heard of this issue, and until we get fully up and running with our media activities, the only way people will know about it is if WE tell them.

For most people, getting an issue put on their "radar" is a case of being told about it a number of times, by a number of people.

Therefore, if you want to help us save the Bonobo, folloe these simple rules:

1. Invite all of your friends to this group. This is probably the simplest task. Even if they don't join, for many it will be the first mention of the Bonobo they have had.

2. Set yourself a goal of asking 50 Friends of Friends to sign the petition a day. Again, this is quite a simple thing to do - requiring about 20 minutes of your time, but if enough of us do it, we would see dramatic results.

3. Set yourself a target of inviting 9 non-friends into this group a day. - check out your "My Connect" page. Every time you visit this, six Frields of Friends and three people close to you are displayed - invite them to this group.

4. Try to make sure the Bononbo petition threads on the various groups around Care2 remain active - keep them at the top of the lists, if there's a lot of people endorsing the petition in public, a lot more people will take notice and sing it.

The fact is, the majority of people do behave like sheep - they follow the croud. Let's make sure the croud is marching to save the Bonobo.

Thanks

George

Thanks everyone.

Sorry I've gone very quiet - two (yes two!!!) pc's have crashed this week - one took my mailbox with it.

In addition, my band has a gig this weekend so there's been a bit to do there.

In addition, I'm helping to organise a festival next week so that's been a bit of work...

So, if I can ask you all to keep plugging at this - members and signatures is the priority, then hopefully I should be back to normal in about a weeks time.
