APRIL 2, 2008 UPDATE by Sapan Rinpoche

GREETINGS, SANGHA!

I have some very good news! The Board of Directors is CLOSE to selecting The Land for the New PCL Monastery, Retreat Center and Contempative Yogi & Yogini Community!

This SUMMER, beginning on July 18th, 2008 (possibly earlier), it will be possible for interested couples (married or partners) to acquire space on the land to build a semi-permanent YURT structure, as part of the new Contemplative Community (CC)! As the land which the PCL BOD is currently moving toward closing is ample enough to begin the CC as part of the community that will begin to take up residence at the PCL Intentional Community will be immediately available, after formal R/E closing, it will, in the thinking of Sapan Rinpoche, be possible to errect those parts of the community that can be done, and not wait until the Monastery itself is completed. Ground will broken for PCL prior to other habitations of the land, but it will be some time before the final PCL Gompa will manifest! At this point it appears that temporary residences for SR, some BOD members and Staff will be available soon, long before the Retreat Center (probably doable next, as there is an existing structure on the candidate land which may allow that, with space for 20 retreatants), and perhaps the two projected Stupas and the Helicopter Pad will also precede the final building of the new 21st-Century North American PCL Monastery, following the natural flow of this river of activity, the CC can begin almost immediately!

So ... having said all of that ... if you are interested, please make further inquirey, stating something about your interest and introducing yourself to Sapan Rinpoche, this Summer. Habitation of your Yurt, if you should be successful candidates for the CC project, will not be possible in this first year after October 15th.

To make an appointment to enter into discussions as soon as you desire, please contact, Sapan Rinpoche at SapanRinpoche@sapanrinpoche.com, directly; call the KTL Dharma Center in Lyons, Colorado at 303-823-6477; or send snail-mail to PCL Monastery Project, Sapan Rinpoche, Director, P.O. Box 108, Lyons, CO 80540-0108. Thank you,

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors, PCL Monastery Project in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.

Marilyn, thank you so much for this response. I will PM and exchange personal email connects and we can further discuss. The PCL YOGI & YOGINI Contemplative Community is closest to my Heart, for the eventual EVOLUTION of Western Dharma! =sapan=

you would like to serve on the "PCL YYCC Advisory Board."

Yes, I live far away at present but would be interested in participating in this and helping in that way!

I can envision the day ...

I can envision the day when perhaps some Monks and Nuns and Lay-Retreatants, having spent some time at the PCL Monastery, make the decisions to move, at least part of their lives and in their own timing, move to the Contemplative Yogi & Yogini Community ... the YURT Commune, if you like ... a truely PLANNED INTENTIONAL SPIRITUAL COMMUNE, to the West and Northwest of the main monastery area, and that in due course some of these people, evolving in the BuddhaDharma far beyond our present Western reach, come out to teach and to transmit the necessary manifestations of the true Dharma here in the West, for the benefit of all sentient beings. I can envision the time when there are Hermits, that have probably left the Yurt Community and move up hill into the small Hermitage, occupied by some of the finest contemplatives that the planet has known, and I can envision the time when there will be yet another few Hermit-Mountain-Yogi-Masters who life in the CAVES of the Rocky Mountains that are all but unknown to the many in the outside world. There is at least one Yogi that I know, that is doing it already, and has been doing it for many years. And there will be more, but of course never TOO many. However, I envision the time when the Mountains of Gilpin County and the Mountains of the Indian Peaks Wilderness will contain the riches far beyond the Gold, Silver and other Minerals that these Mountains have produced -- these mountains of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains will yield the best and most precious Masters for the North American Continent. And perhaps, through our current Continental and Global networking, they will move about a bit, to other very, very special places here in North America ... in places and even Spiritual Communities that already exist, but profoundly influenced by the roots and causes and conditons that have issued forth from the Phuntsok Choephel Ling Monastery Project, the vision of Kyabje Chogye Trichen, Kyabje Trinly Sakyapa, and their disciple, this good-for-nothing Dharma Bum, Sapan Rinpoche ... So Mote It Be!

A MAJOR PLANNED INTENTIONAL SPIRITUAL COMMUNE
2 years ago

THIS GROUP, at PCL Monastery Project, IS MY MOST VITAL GROUP, IN THAT IT IS CONCERNED WITH BUILDING A MAJOR DHARMA CENTER IN THE FRONT RANGE OF THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS, a community composed of a Sangha of Six Monks and Six Nuns, a Retreat Community of up to 20 people at a time, in the wrap-around retreat facility connected with the main Monastery, and ... in many ways, most exciting to me ... the Contemplative Yogi & Yogini Community, in Yurts, to the West and North West of the main monastery buildings, that will hopefully nurture the real growth and evolution of the Western Dharma.

I envision the possibiltiy of this great project coming to fruition in my lifetime, even though I am now almost 70-years old, and can envision the day when in fact a HERMITAGE, up behind the main monastery and contemplative yurt community, comes to fruition, and there are some people their, a few, who will really be the Jewels of the Western Dharma, helping in the ways that Dharma Hermits do, to extend the reach and profound influence of the BuddhaDharma in all the good ways that this has been done, from culture to culture, since Shakyamuni's time. Here in North America, we are just getting started, aside from the fact that there are many well-intentioned project already underway. Please, if your way is open, lend your energies to the manifestation of this visionary project -- for the benefit of all beings, everywhere!   EVERYWHERE IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE!  E Ma Ho!!  Sarva Mangalam!!!

Some interesting questions by Dagmar answered ...
Dagmar's questions were originally about the Yurts and participation in the PCL project if one does not live in the USA, and appeared in the Questions & Answers Thread. I felt they would be interesting to post here, and thus here was my answer: Thank you for your questions, Dagmar! Perhaps people living outside the USA or North America will not be very interested in the PCL Monastery Project, other than in a general way, for the Good of the Dharma. At least until the project is manifested, Monastery built, Retreat center in place and the other things like the Yogi & Yogini Community started. However, in fact, there are people in other lands, on other continents that are involved and interested and supportive of all developments. And of course people can always provide donations and gifts to the Monastery. Again, perhaps this will not appeal to many outside the USA, but some will respond and already have. You, Dagmar, could send us ALL of your Spare Change, and that would help, but of course I am just tryin' to kid you a little bit! YURTS and the "Yogi & Yogini Contemplative Community" will be administerred overall by the PCL Monastery Administration working with the "PCL Y & Y C C Council! Space for putting such a Mountain Community and also, in another part of the Monastery grounds, a Summer Camping Area, is being provided. There will eventually be built a good Community Yurt, with Kitchen and Lunge and Meeting Area, but that is on the back burner right now. Individual practitioners will have the option of putting up Private Yurts, although the rigors of the Continental Divide area in Winter are quite a bit to contend with and plan for, of course. Perhaps, in time, as in Tibet, there will be some of the best of all practitioners living and practicing here. That is the Vision & the Hope! There are no plans at this point to profide Tent or Yurt facilities for rent, although, for example, if an individual or couple or group had a Private Yurt on the PCL land and they were not going to use it year around, which could well be the case, arrangements could be made to rent it out to other individuals, but that is of course not a bridge we have had to cross yet. All of PCL, physically, aside from SOME LAND in several locations, does not yet exist. This YEAR of 2007 is our big push to change that! Thanks again for your questions! =sapan=
You cannot participate ...
If you cannot participate in this Mountain-based community, perhaps, through your Study & Practice, you would like to serve on the "PCL YYCC Advisory Board." Please let us know if this would be of interest to you. We do have a "PCL International Advisory Board," which is now being refreshed for 2007, and also, for Ordained Monks & Nuns, a "PCL Monastic Sanga Council." Let us know, also, if any of these adviory groups are of interest to you! Thank you, Sapan Rinpoche, Project Director and Manager
