How many of you read romance?  Which authors do you prefer?

I am a big fan of Paranormal romances, contemporary romances, & Romantica (Erotic romances).  In the bookstore I have more Romantica listed than other versions but what are people reading in this diverse genre?  I have read historicals but they are not really my favorite although there are a few that I enjoy and actually have in my keeper pile.

Some of my favorite authors in the romance genre are Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lora Leigh, Maya Banks, Lori Foster, Susan Fox, & Diana Palmer.  Those are just a few.  There are also some authors that you find predominantly in the Fantasy section/genre that are crossovers into romance that I love such as Patricia Briggs, Laurell K Hamilton, Carrie Vaughn, Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harrison, & Lilith Saintcrow.

There is a Patricia Briggs book posted in the bookstore that is really good and just a great example of strong writing.

What is everyone else's opinion?...

Diana Gabaldon    I loved the historical/time travel series she wrote. I actually learned some history, too. LOL

Nora Roberts       Some of hers are "mystical" and historical. She also writes mystery/romance under J.D. Robb which are pretty good.

Eudora Welty     Great Mississippi writer.

Susan Sizemore is very cross genre in terms of writing fantasy and romance or combining the two.  I just picked up two that are normally found under fantasy and the romance in them is really well written.

I also like Annmarie McKenna.  She has a few books published (some in Ebook format) and all of them are really well written.  Some of her books fall under the romantic paranormal genre.

You know lately Vampire - Shapeshifter books have been published in an abundance -- how would you post these since they seem to cross genre's -- or would you post to both?  [ send green star]

My cousin married a Paranormal author who goes by the name Karen Marie Moaning. She wrote a series of books about fairies and not always the good kind, either. You can check out her books at but the last time I went to her page, she had no way to order! That weirded me out!! I do have a friend who writes AWESOME Paranormal/erotica. Her name is Julie Kenner. She recently adopted a little girl with a hairlip that has since been fixed. If you'd like to check out Julie's books you can do so at and be sure to tell her Barb Knight sent you!! One other thing, like me, Julie adores purple!! (I tried to make the word purple, purlpe, but it just made that "blup" noise at me when I clicked on the color pallet.)

Enjoy whatever book you read-right now I'm reading UP ISLAND By Anne Rivers Siddons and I'm enjoying it immensely!-and have a VERY HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR'S!!!!!!
