I always go for a female, non fighter type.  I like to have healing powers as well as being able to use majik both to a high degree. Thief ,Paladin or Shapeshifter. I tried being a Mage once but didnt like the time it took to build up knowledge.

I dont like Sci Fi really so I only go for the fantasy stuff. I played a game once where there were no powers involved at all, just a group of adventurers gaining things like horses, saddles, boots and stuff. That was pretty good!!

a battle mage. relying on only a weapon is quite dull.

I guess I'm partial to the vampires and werewolves, its what I started RPing on years and years ago.. and its what I always come back to.. I have a werewolf character thats still in play and its been over 10 years for her..

I don't necessarily like D&D but I play.. and have played..

Oooh, all kinds. June 11, 2007 8:33 PM

I love all kinds.  For table-top dice games like D&D, I love to play Clerics and Rangers.  My first character ever was a little elven rogue named Jacida.  (She and an arrogant human ranger PC eventually produced a baby, named Jacida HalfElven.)  I never went back to rogues, because I could never top Jacida!  (It's like your first love, you know?  Your first character?)  I loved my half-orc male Kosh, a ranger who was majorly loyal to his mage buddy and his forest.  Then there's Alasen the awesomest of all awesome clerics, of Corellon Larethian, who I liked so much that I refused to let her go even when my husband, my DM, had his NPC turn her into a cockroach.  (I even negotiated with him to give her a temporary bump in Con!)  She was totally useless till the party could get her changed back, but she survived!  My female half-orc Leagh WinterTree (which is now my Care2 name) was a cool shy ranger who was the lovechild of a human male druid and a orc female fighter.

My most recent character, Hilyn Morhand, was a paladin of Moradin.  She lasted two whole rounds in my husband's most recent game before dying at the disembodied hands of undead.  Now I'm running a game again, and HIS epic-level mage better watch her step.

I never play  mages in table-top, but I love to play them in computer RPGs.

In Vampire, I once played a shadow obfuscator.  Okay, I don't really remember what the name for them was.  I remember obfuscate was one of the abilities I had.  I was a major manipulator in the party.  My main combat move was to have these shadow tendrils creep out and hold someone down while the rest of the party beat the snot out of him, and then I'd drink.  I never got within ten feet of any real combat.  It was great.

thats alot of characters you have played over the years!..t hats really cool.. and yer vampire.. i'm not sure if yer talking a d&d vampire or something else.. Obfuscate in the world of darkness is a clan specific discipline from the Nosferatu and the shadow trendils you talk about again is clan specific to I am pretty sure clan Lasombra.. there a cool clan.. tho I am thinking yer talking another type of game..

I love playing sneaky rogues best, but any character with a well thought out background is my cup of tea. Guess it's the writer in me.

Oh gosh!,

my CoG is not totally peaceful at all, she loves to eat her foe's when she is done killing them, less that would be bad for her health!..LOL and ripping out throats, she loves that to, however being CoG she tends to try the peacful stuff first and then when al else fails even the greatest CoG knows that violence is needed..

She is soooo no saint!, and she's got battle scars to prove it!

Well, for one D&D run, my hubby invented a gawd of practical jokes.  That deity has now been around for at least 20 years, and I love to play worshipers of that gawd.  A thief-cleric can get away with a great deal, and can be very creative, and heaven help anyone who crosses a mage who serves that gawd.
I love to play oddball characters in other games, too.  My favorite Champions character actually died nearly 200 years ago.  She's a ghost.  My fave in Traveller borrows a little from Paranoia.  She wears a white jumpsuit...with a BIIIG yellow stripe.  Anybody who plays Paranoia will get that joke.  And it's appropriate.  She faith-heals the ship's computer on a regular basis.  In Rifts, I'm currently playing a DB from, of all places, Valdemar.  (No, i'm pretty sure it doesn't violate copyright since it is just a dice-and paper solo adventure, for private use only, and not posted online).
In short, I'm drawn to characters that are at least a little quirky and don't quite fit in with the GM's carefully planned and orchestrated world. I like to shake things up a bit.

I usually run the games I'm in, but when I do play, it's usually a support type character.  [ send green star]
