I've ridden for over 30 years, starting out on a Sportster in 1968. I've ridden most Harley models since then, and a lot of sportbikes, mostly CBR's and an R1. The last three years I've been riding a Buell xb9sx. Best bike I ever rode.

I don't ride, June 18, 2006 7:37 PM
my brother use to be a Paramedic, and kinda put that to a rest with his stories, for us all. I look though, and I saw a nice red and silver Harley on the road today. As well, I broke down and let my buddy take me for a ride on his a few times, long ago, after he kept pleading with me. My oldest son crashed on his, and vowed never again. I don't believe him.

Thats a hard one...too many to choose from. I like Harleys, I see enough of them at my second job (they ride pass the Cafe). So I enjoy the scenery.
My Dad has a 1957 Matchless with a Norton Motor ( or 58), my Brother had Goldwings. I use to ride on the back of a modified 650 yamaha (it had been fitted with a Sportster tank and seat plus had been lowered for the guy who owned it).
I like old Indians, and the Triumph Bikes, but it has been along time since I was a passenger. My friends up in Vernon,BC rebuild bikes and I hope to move back up that way as I enjoyed being apart of the Toy Runs and other miscellaneous things as I have a soft spot in my heart for that ol'rumble.

I actually don’t know much about bikes, but I do like the Harleys. Whenever I see a group of bikes, I envy them and wish it was me there enjoying the breeze.
Harley Davidson and Indian... both have a place in my heart. Black and chrome!! Unless it's the one I've created in my head; I'll tell you about it when it's finished

Strictly from an appearance standpoint, I like Harleys . . lots of chrome . . they look gr8!
I currently ride a softail . . my BF is building me a 2004 Indian Chief. He collects Indians . .has a lot of really old ones . . Indians look really cool too!
As far as quality of ride . . I haven't ridden all makes, but the BMW is very smooth & handles well. Really great for tall people.

Well my baby is a 1974 Harley Shovelhead, which I still own, that I paid $8,000 for. I love it. Red is my color. It turns me on. I love that bike but I got tired of scraping myself off the pavement. The last straw was when I was driving down the road and my baby spit the chain off. Tore up the gear case. This was my moment of truth. I made the painful decision to go with the dependable Harley EVO after AMF bought out Harley.
Here`s my baby.
Now I`m ridin a 1997 Heritage Springer and I can tell you that as much as I dig red, the blue pearl is a chick magnet. This baby cost me 15 k, a steal!

My Apologies for taking so long in responding...too much work and not enough fun!!!

Yup... those are photos of mine....... the slide show.......
Each friday the 13th Port Dover, Ontario on the shores of lake Erie, holds a bike rally. It's helt regardless of the weather. I've seen better custom bikes before but what you will see a lot of are bikes built by average guys and gals. So in that regard it is a more enjoyable show. The last few years the warmer weather events have had 2 or 3 thousand people show up. Next one I go to, I'll bring my digital with me and take some new photos.
Port Dover is a nice wee little town... rather rustic, but the beach is nice and Knechtals on the beach makes some of the best perch sandwiches going. So I just like to go.... grab a sandwich or two... sit on the beach... with a beer or two...LOL and just watch the world go by.
Some of the biker groups have chapter houses there, but that matters little to me. So some of you may be able to access info about Dover's Friday the 13th run through them. I like riding with them... I like having a beer and a chin-wag with most of them. I respect them.. they respect me, just like the world should be.... but I'm not much of a joiner. I was a monk for awhile, but couldn't bring myself to even continue being a joiner with that good group for long. Just not my nature.
Glad some of you have enjoyed the photos. I also have some interesting snaps of India and some of the wilder parts of Canada.... you're welcome to come have a peek.
I'm not over keen on Harleys, they're okay.... but all the hype has made them too expensive when it comes to parts and they're rapidly becoming the domain of wanna-bes. But if you love Harleys, that's cool... what it comes down to is your own choice. For myself I admt to a fondness for rat bikes... those nasty little chopped down, ugly, purely function over form bikes. Yes... even Harley born rat bikes..LOL... I like them too.
I like Nortons though... bloody good bikes those were. I'm rough on my bikes, and my bikes are rough on me..LOL. They're tough buggers, Nortons. Ensign still makes a brute of a bike that you can find in India. They're like vampires, nearly impossible to kill and just as likely to do you in once you've grabbed hold of one, but a rat biker's dream.
I also admit to a secret longing for a Russ Mitchell bike.. like Zen works of art. I've always loved Indian Larry, but I think Russ just might have the stuff of legend if it doesn't all go to his head.
thanks for the invite......... I'll do a proper bio over on the right thread.
Even if you dont dig Harleys the most, its all good. I like Nortons myself I just grew up spittin teeth, literally, on Harleys so have a love/hate relationship with them. LOL
I dig all bikes so I didnt start this group about just Harleys. This big ol world has more than enough room for all makes and styles I think.
There are very few motorcycles I don't like. They're all fun in their own ways. The last few years, though, I've needed to ride really fast and have been drawn to sport bikes.

Hey Wild: I ride a "97 Springer too! She's a beauty . I named her "Sugar". White with navy trim . . black seat w/navy trim . . fish tails. Having a problem posting pic here . . but you can see in my album.
I loved my Ural cossack. bitch to get bits for, always going wrong but when it was going it would plough a field before a honda or some other sowing machien could be warmed up enough to get off its stand
I forgot that I had this photo squirrelled away. Now if the world was truly fair and I got what I deserved then this would be my war pony...... with a very, very few modifications.
and this reply would have been scary, 'cause I would've likely have had to write it from the grave. I probably would've killed myself trying to find out fast it really goes. However it'd be a sweet ride to cruise down heaven's highways with some of my lost friends and brothers. So it'd be good either way.
nahhhh Jeff; I don't think anyone stole brother John's engine. I think it's one of those of those gas powered jobs...... a dozen taco bell specials... a six pack.. and away you go.
Love the photo brother John...... a little irreverancy is always good for the heart.
I'm bumping this thread up because I've had several nm's asking me why my bike isn't on this group. Guess the post got lost in the wild shuffle around here. As you can see I have two bikes that I treat like babies. It's almost like they've become part of me.

I live in CT and have talked with some folks that have worked on OCC bikes (since they are close to us). The are awsome bike to look at, but you wouldn't want to ride one. They break down ALOT and are mechanically not great.
My favorites are Harleys and Indians. I was visiting friends in CA; we went to a bar and there was thee most incredibly beautiful Indian (black and chrome--clean) and my mouth dropped. I stayed in the parking lost and checked it out. They eventually left me there but I didn't know until I started to point something out and there was no one to talk to awwww!! How's everyone? some beautiful bikes here.

YES MINE IS A H.D. 1957. PANHEAD IN A NESS FRAME BUT ALL MY PHOTOS GOT RUINED IN NEW ORLEANS LAST YEAR 8-29 TO CORECT.BUT YES THE RED ONE PRITY BUT THINK BLUE IS BETTER.

oh yeah, did I mention that I am afraid of motorcycles? Last time I got on one (my ex brothe in law is a Harley guy) I cried... Like a baby... It's true...

My favorite bikes are two entirely different breeds. My old man has some amazing BSA's set up for "Vintage" racing...which he does. Flat-track and TT mostly. He also has a "British" Indian..a rare "250" made only a couple years in England( 1950 Indian "Brave") It's all wrapped up and waiting to be loving restored when he retires. I also love Harleys( older ones), but who does'nt?!?
[report anonymous abuse]
For me there is only HD! Even the other bike co's like HD, thats why when Harley lost their lawsuit to patent the sound of their bikes everyone started making look-alikes. Most any Harley will do, my friends at Nash build some crazy things and I like them all. http://www.nashmotorcycle.com/
My hubbie builds mostly rigid, his newest is on my page. I had to sell my custom 72 lowride sportster when my MS hit so we had to go traditional and bought a 99 Ultra-Classic.
And like you Wild One-Red is our color. Red bikes, trucks, cars. Just the way is. Mine was actually painted Candy Apple Brandy Wine with a Gold Undercoat. I'll see if I can find a pict.
The Ultra-Classic is for sale now, we also have a Softtail we picked up cheap just to turn. Both are on cycle trader right now.
He won't get rid of his quarter mile machine-a 68/69 Sportster, he made the frame out of 3/16 chrome molly tubing, has an SS E series with velocity stack stickin out the side, its long, low and really fast.
Then there is the 57 Panhead, the 46 Knuckle and the 79 Shovel. I told him since we are moving across the country and he has cancer that he needs to get rid of all but 2. Sounds resonable to me!!! I want a Shovelhead Trike, since his cancer the Ultra-Classic is too much for him to ride (he has lost too much weight). So here it is, summer again and I cannot ride .
I spent 2 summers not riding because of pain and rigid frames, then last year was heaven, now I am down again.
