What was your favorite memory of a ride? Whether you were steering or just going along for the ride. What made it stick in your mind forever after?

From Akron, Ohio to Sedona, Arizona... was riding by myself and yet not alone. Many drivers on the road had my back. It was an incredible experience.

my first time on a motorbike!! June 20, 2006 7:11 AM
I was a wee one of maybe 8 or 9 years. It was so exciting!! No helmet! Truly exhilarating memory. I know what you mean about the no helmet thing. I understand the potential injury that a helmet may prevent. Still......being an idiot is not always a bad thing.

This is going back many years, My favorite ride was when I was about 10 yrs old or so. My dad took me on a "Toys for tots run" it was a bikers club from the East Coast of USA. We strapped stuffed animals to the back of the bikes and rode the coast line. Together we helped familys have toys for their little ones for Christmas time. It was one of the first runs with my dad and always leaves me with a ..~~With Love, everything is possible~~Kim K

I really hate to bring this up because I don't wish to spoil your precious memory but it must be said that many "Toys For Tots" drives are bogus and don't actually benefit the kids in the U.S.
I'm not picking on motorcyclist drives in particular as I'm sure they "think" the toys end up in kids hands but truth be told the people they hook up with that they think are distributing them to U.S. kids who need a toy at Christmas are really distributors who then sell these millions of toys (collectively from many different toy drives by different groups) to other countries on the open market. It is a scam that has been perpetrated on the American people for more years than I care to remember.
This is not to say that those collecting the toys don't have their hearts in the right place of course. Who would dream such a thing was going on? It seems unconscionable and it is!
My advice is to hold toy drives and then following up by distributing the toys yourselves. Then you know they are going back into the community to deserving American KIDS.
You're right. When I was still living home in NJ, my cousin Billy and I went on a run and he told me we had to deliver the booty ourselves. I had no clue, but was certainly willing to play along...so off we went. We hit a few local hospitals and one orphanage. It was great.
My future "favorite" ride that I hope to make will be from Florida to the high desert in Utah-not far over the Az boarder...tho, at this point it is still a dream.

I used to go on the Egg and £1 run in & around Taunton at Easter, we'd distribute the Easter Eggs to homes for adults with severe learning difficulties and the money was divided among the same homes. We were always greeted with joy, a warm drink and biscuits. The bikes were all shapes and sizes and so were the people and we were all greeted with excitement and enthusiasm. It was so good to ride with so many other bikers.
