I'm vegan. I'm very private. I am passionate about animals and poltics and care deply for the environment. I love to read, drink wine, cook, spend time outdoors, work out, watch movies and be with my animals and my husband. I'm not as radical an activist as I would like to be but I do as much as I am comfortable with at this time. I write alot of letters and sign alot of petitions and belong to some animal rescue and animal rights and welfare related email networking groups. I used to be in organized animal rescue but got out because I could not emotionally deal with it plus the people disappointed me. It was all so political and I hate that because the animals alway end up paying. So I just did it on my own until I couldn't financially or spiritually handle it anymore. Plus, I need lots of time alone and other people seem to get in the way of that! ;>) Now I just try to live my truth the very best I can.
I used to be a wild drug and drink abusing party animal with no social conscience.
My Philosophy
Learn to think for yourself and respect life in all it's forms.
What Gives Me Hope
People who are much more brave than I, who get out there and put everything on the line for what they believe in. They are my heroes.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
End factory farming in all it's forms.
What/who changed my life and why
This will sound silly but it all started with my cat. My first cat, Sherwood, got sick. In nursing him, I learned about holistic medicine and feline health, which led to learning about other animals, the planet and the destruction of it and the oppression of animals, and how politics and goverment affect my life and the lives of animals and the planet and the people who fight for their preservation. Also, how goverment and politics affect the people who value free speech and critical thinking and self expression. So, one sick cat changed my entire set of priorities, values and view of the world. Also, my mother is the most decent and beautiful woman I've ever known. I wish I could be as kind and generous of heart as she is.
We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation, and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were able to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form. ~William Ralph Inge
