About Me I am 52 yo, an Alaskan teddy-bear type of guy. I love making new friends and sharing time with those I already have. Connection is sacred for me...in fact, I often say it could be a one-word replacement for Spirituality. I hate those things which detract from it, including competition and contention. I also love movies and books (rather eclectic, though fantasy/adventure's my fave genre and "The Color Purple", "Chocolat", and the Harry Potter series are probably my favorite movies). And I love Alaska's great outdoors, the most beautiful on the planet. I don't get out in it as much as I should, but I do love long drives. I'm working on getting out more, though work keeps me tied up, as well as meetings, etc., for causes I love! :)

Wild Fact About Me I am surgically safe, and believe "all acts of love and pleasure" are Divine acts.
My Philosophy I guess my philosophy can be summed up in three bumper sticker sayings, two of which are other people's and one of which is mine. They are

"An' it harm none, do what ye will.",

"Peace in the World begins with Peace Within.",

and

"Many Facets, One Gem...
Celebrate Diversity!".

Every act of loving-kindness, every act of positive, healing intent, no matter how small it may seem, whether it fully achieves its end or not makes a difference. A better world is built one pebble at a time.

I do not know what the Divine is... My Faith these days has more doubt than certainty. I do know, however, that It does not judge us as sinful for who we love or for whether our behavior matches someone's interpretation of some list of "thou shalt nots". If there is sin, it is doing harm. Harm is intentional action which has the effect of either violating physically or diminishing the potential or well-being of the one or the thing being acted upon. There is too much good in the world that needs doing for anyone to be involved in doing harm.

Bliss'd and Blessed Be!
What Gives Me Hope Watching a father with his 1 1/2 year-old-son, just walking, as he shows him how to throw recyclables into the right bin at a Renewable Energy Fair. Watching a couple of any age or gender walking hand in hand or sitting together over a candle in a restaurant in quiet conversation. Sitting in a restaurant and hearing some twenty-somethings debating issues of the world and the way things are...I only agreed with part of what what said, but it was obvious they cared! Seeing groups of friends laugh together. Hearing my friends and my adult son, Thomas Daniel "Tommy Dargonskald" Naff, say "I love you!" Every day looking to the East and seeing the mighty Chugach mountain range, proving that the Earth is still alive because, yet again, they have changed and are still beautiful.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by Do away with money...it only encourages the mistaken notion that we have few resources, and that it is right for a very small group of people to control everything.
What/who changed my life and why My mission to Japan as an LDS Missionary. I'm afraid the changes were not the ones that the LDS Church hoped they'd be. First, and mundanely, I got to see a very different way of life in action, one which focuses on the group in the same extreme way we focus on the individual. This helped me see clearly that the best way is one that walks between these two extremes. And second, much less mundanely, to feel the very same spirit or power or feeling inside a many-hundred year-old Shinto shrine that I felt inside the LDS temple. This let me know clearly that the Divine does not limit its manifestations, and, therefore, its love, to those of a particular sect or way of belief.
