I recently retired from the US Air Force, after 20 years of service. On May 1, my new job began in Washington, DC. It involves working for a major Federal agency, responsible for protecting our national security.
For the past four and a half years, my home was in Marysville, California. My California photos came from that period. Before that, I was stationed in Britain, Nebraska, South Carolina, and Texas (in reverse order).
My new apartment is in the Mt Pleasant area of Washington. It's an incredibly diverse, colorful, and interesting neighborhood. While not the ideal place for a family, it's exactly right for a single adult like me.
As a Federal employee, I cannot engage in partisan (Democratic vs Republican) politics, but will remain active in causes that appeal to me. If you have a non-partisan issue to discuss, keep me in mind.

What if you slept? And what if, in your sleep, you dreamed? And what if, in your dream, you went to heaven and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower? And what if, when you awoke, you had the flower in your hand? Ah, what then?

The two-legs killed my mother My brothers and sisters too The two-legs has got me. I'll be with my family soon. Now the two-legs is over me As I get one last look At my boloved moon.

The glistening sun is shining On the sparkling water, The sparkling water is connecting To the pretty ocean, The pretty ocean is as beautiful As a bachelor button flower, The bachelor button flower is yellow and blue Like the sunset sky, The sunset sky is giving peace to the Earth!
What is a Poem A poem is hidden in the soundlessspeechless soft clouds Tossing turning twisting in the crystal clear aquamarine sky Look inside a pleasing pretty flower Climb immeasurable immenseimpressive mountains If you find a poem handle it carefully Like a newborn puppy For a poem can die or slip through fingers Like creamy butter And be lost in the dark streets Look in places where you have never been before And there you might find a poem Lost somewhere in the soft clouds The clear sky or a pretty flower Waiting for you! by Amber Hickman (aged 8)
Could we but draw back the curtain, That surrounds each others lives, See the naked heart and spirit; Know what spur the action gives; Often we would find it better, Purer then we think we would. We would love each other better, If we only understood.
"Someone has said that a friend is a bank of credit on which we can draw supplies of confidence, counsel, sympathy, help, and love. And that is true, for if you have a genuine friend, you possess riches greater than silver or gold. Which, of course, brings us to the other sideof the question: are you, and am I, the kind of friend that others can treasure?"
There's nothing as nice As someone who shares, Your laughter, your secrets, Your wishes and cares, Someone who's there Through your good times and tears, Who stays by your side As your friend through the years.
"Nothing is great like friendship on earth. No jewel no pearl has got it's worth. No one except a friend can be trusted. Your life will never ever get rusted."
Today I remembered: "What we see in others, may exist in us in other forms, for we are all truly from the same light." I thank you for bringing understanding, acceptance and compassion to my reality.
