Visionary in intentional communities, renewable energy, social bonding and bridging; agricultural engineer, attorney, scientist and basic do-gooder. I need some "do" -- e.g. a job and a new start on my next career, hopefully in Oregon or Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California.
My goal is to create self-sufficient, sustainable intentional communities (econovillages -- ecovillages)on eCampuses (environmental campuses or economic campuses). My target areas are poor rural villages and town and by creating the sustainable community in and around the town, the community will become a healing, loving, caring and economically robust community which has the economic power to become the best stewards of land, water and people possible.
My Philosophy
Keep it simple, keep it small, use only what we need; mend, fix, recycle, reuse; fugality is next to cleanliness; help others without fear or favor; expect the best for yourself and your friends, family and strangers.
What Gives Me Hope
The ability of the Earth, plants and animals to heal themselves.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Fire all of the employees, then require them to re-apply for their old job, then hire folks who have proven record of competence and throughput and who really give a damn. Basically, I would hire on the basis of "What you know" not "Who you know".
What/who changed my life and why
After reading Lord of Rings three times, seeing the full screen once and the DVD three times, I realize that just below the surface of the action and words, lies a huge reservoir of ethical behavior and lessons we need to learn to achieve our goals.
E. B. White once said, "I arise in the morning torn between a desire to save the world and a desire to savor the world. This makes it hard to plan the day."
