I am a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker). Therefore, I am against any armed conflict, the death penalty, and any Social or Economic injustice. I am in service to my fellow humans. I believe that God has revealed Himself to ALL of his creation in a way that they can understand. It would be arrogant of us to try and change those beliefs that are different from ours. All religious beliefs are right for the people who believe them. Animals are not ours to use as we want. God gave us dominion over his creation. That is not synonymous with exploitation. I think we're doing a poor job as His caretakers, and our planet needs immediate attention.
My husband of 28 years is 30 years older than I am. We recently converted a large part of our property into a backyard wildlife habitat. It has been certified by the National Wildlife Federation.
When I travel, I like to visit the local cemetery.
My Philosophy
God is perfect and makes no mistakes. Therefore nobody's lifestyle, sexual orientation, or religious belief is offensive, or sinful, to Him.
What Gives Me Hope
That there are enlightened people in the world who see, and seek, the truth.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
End the War in Iraq, bring all the GIs home, and try to hug every one of them as they stepped off the plane. I would also outlaw Greyhound racing.
What/who changed my life and why
Florence Nightengale. When she cared for the soldiers wounded in the Crimean War, she saved so many from death through her infection control procedures and nutritional reforms. They loved her and appreciated her selflessness. When she would take her oil lamp and walk her rounds during the night, the soldiers would touch and even kiss her shadow as it was cast on the wall as she passed them. She would forever be known as the "Lady With the Lamp".
Of course from the famous Quaker, William Penn: "I expect to pass through life but once. If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again."
If only I could have a friend Who sticks with me until the end And walk along beside the sea To share a bit of moon with me I'd take my friend most everywhere La la la la I wouldn't care And we'll stay away from crowds With signs that say no friends allowed Oh we...we'd be so happy to be... We...we'd be so happy to be together...
