In the Stillness

In the whisper of the wind I heard a peaceful still
it swept away all sound as it brushed accross the hill

I sat and pondered at the sky a vast and lovely blue
then suddenly the breeze slipped by as the sunlight lit the dew

A billion sparkles filled my eyes with a spectacular array
and then in the whisper of the wind I thought I heard Him say

"How joyous is this morning! How glorious is this day!"

I felt my heart lift to the sky a flawless ocean blue
and saw the colors of the rainbow in radiant placid hues

Then in a twinkling of an eye the silence turned to song
as every bird in every tree cried out in a cheering throng

"God is here! God is peace! God is endless love!"

I felt the stillness now inside me cooing softly like a dove
"remember I am always with you and I will never go away."

Sunflowers stand as sentinels
forming the garden wall
Bright faces in the sunlight
glorious and tall

They smile at me in greeting
and wink with a bumble bee eye
I love to watch them growing
against the open sky

When their heads bow down with seed
I muse at the visiting birds
The feeling that they stir in me
is more wonderful than words
