I started back in 1995 of addressing large scale smoking of hazardous waste material coming from Quanex Macsteel, a steel plant built right next door to Ben Geren Park. This park was full of children playing baseball, scoccer, and much more. The chromium and lead dust was not good for the children or anyone with asthma. I saw a man nearly die in 1992 from the steel plant smoking. Well by 1997 I got another baghouse built and stopped the smoking. But as of today this steel plant has buried hazardous material that right next to the First Tee golf area that could leach out someday into the area that children play in and this steel plant has been for over ten years violated the Clean Water Act by dumping trash, high pH water, waste oils, and processing waste water into Ben Geren Park that flows into the Arkansas River. Sadly the USWA union on site will not take action to help stop this steel plant. My past action has greatly slowed the violation, but more still needs to be done. If you go to my web site where I have copies of the pictures I have taken between 12/05 to 5/06, you will see the pollution discharged by Quanex Macsteel and how Arkansas ADEQ environmental enforcement just looks the other way. http://groups.msn.com/FORTSMITHARKANSAS/messageboard.msnw
Look at the "Pollution from Quanex Macsteel" picture book under "pictures" this will show you some wild life in Ben Geren Park and pollution put there by Quanex Macsteel. I would like to make good contacts with people around Fort Smith, Ar that care for our environment and the safety of the children to help me stop the waste water discharging by Macsteel. Sadly already thousands of children have seen exposed to the hazardous material from Macsteel. I know many people who want to see Arkansas ADEQ program over hauled with a new governor of Arkansas. But not everyone in Fort Smith, AR will support you putting a sign on your car. I put a sign on my car for the governor's race about pollution from Macsteel and I got ban from all Pic-N-Tote stores in Fort Smith, Ar. Take a look at my story here:

Well, I had a manager from Quanex Macsteel attack me back in 7-25-2006 and cut me above the right eye. I filed charges and got charges of third degree assult on Darrel Hayes with Quanex Macsteel. He was found guilty on 11-16-06. This is the third time someone with Quanex Macsteel has made threats, violent acts, and attacked me. When the death threat was made on me, the plant manager John Fisher at that time did nothing and no one was fired. When I was pushed into a running bandsaw, nothing was done and false reports were writing to cover it up and no one was fired. Now outside the steel plant that has been violating Federal EPA laws for many years, buried hazardous waste, has millions of pounds of hazardous waste missing on EPA reports, and still violating the Clean Water Act, I had a manager from Quanex Macsteel to attack me on the outside of Quanex Macsteel. Quanex Macsteel showed up in court supporting this manager. This just show how sick this steel plant ethical standards are and how much they care about our environment. Unknow at this time if anyone has been fired over this.
I looking for anyone in the Fort Smith, Ar area that is envolved in stopped or interested in keeping an eye on environmental issues in the Fort Smith, AR area.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
If I was the Governor of Arkansas, I would clean up and over haul Arkansas environmental program called ADEQ. This way companies like Quanex Macsteel will meet Federal and State environmental laws. They would get the fines when they break the laws and would not get away with burying hazardous material that could be low level radioactive waste.
