I don't really have a passion--I have several. The first is Horses and my Relationship with them, which has been lifelong. I am a Training Clinician and I teach people about Horses, their Nature, how to communicate effectively with them, and how to work within their Natural envelope and get positive results. I see, and work with, Horses as peers, teachers, and friends. I can truthfully say that my best and most loyal Friends are Horses. I also have a great interest in Horse-based Therapy and Psychotherapy, and am very active in Equine Rescue.
The second passion is my Heritage and Traditions. I am Native American, card carrying, and a Traditional. Like most of us, I am mixed blood--Cherokee and Saponi. My last name is Saponi, and stems from a Land Grant given by King George to one of my Ancestors, "Ko-pe", for saving the life of a favorite Son of an English Noble who was a surveyor in the Colonies during early settlement. The name became Angliconized. We used to hyphenate it, Cope-land, my Father dropped that in his signature, but continued to pronounce it as two words--which it actually is in English. Interestingly enough, the land we have is the site of 3 Mounds. We do our ceremonies back where the Mounds are, of course. The farm we have is the first land settled outside the Wachovia Purchase, in NC, and the Farmhouse is log, Moravian, and was built in 1754. According to the NRHP, we live in the oldest continuously occupied private residence in America. The land was also the site of the first Moravian Boy's School, the first Home of Friedburg Moravian Church, the site of a Continental Army camp and 2 Civil War camps, and a Safehaven stop on the Underground Railroad. Adam Spach, the First settler and builder of this House, was not a Churchman. It is said in his memoirs that he became a Christian, and subsequently founded Friedburg Moravian Church after Jesus appeared to him on "a hill" out back. That hill is the central Temple Mound, as pointed out to us by Edwin Spach, his direct decendant.

"The April rain, the April rain, Comes slanting down in fitful showers, Then from the furrow shoots the grain, And banks are fledged with nestling flowers; And in grey shawl and woodland bowers The cuckoo through the April rain Calls once again."

"I think over again my small adventures My fears, those small ones that seemed so big For all the vital things I had to get and reach And yet there is only one great thing The only thing To live to see the great day that dawns And the light that fills the world."

The tree embraces an invisible wind And a fairy come out flying Waiting the messenger bird That broke apart on the hard sky His wings wind from Earth Coiled upward and smooth The tree there was with the birds resting Waiting for the sun to fly I was dreaming with wings And for a brief moment, I knew the joy For one brief moment I could fly, And since I have no wings to fly, I stay Imagining how sad it would be If birds could not fly.

The glistening sun is shining On the sparkling water, The sparkling water is connecting To the pretty ocean, The pretty ocean is as beautiful As a bachelor button flower, The bachelor button flower is yellow and blue Like the sunset sky, The sunset sky is giving peace to the Earth!
When I give light I also receive, When I smile I give light to others, they give light to me. It is with the light all of us give, all, that we are free.

"Someone has said that a friend is a bank of credit on which we can draw supplies of confidence, counsel, sympathy, help, and love. And that is true, for if you have a genuine friend, you possess riches greater than silver or gold. Which, of course, brings us to the other sideof the question: are you, and am I, the kind of friend that others can treasure?"
There's nothing as nice As someone who shares, Your laughter, your secrets, Your wishes and cares, Someone who's there Through your good times and tears, Who stays by your side As your friend through the years.
"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile... it's the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."
"There are mysteries about our love. Things that neither one of us may ever understand because love is an emotion without limit and understanding. We know we love each other but we could never explain completely as why we love each other. Love is not a clock. You simply cannot take it apart just to see what makes it tick, and even if you could, you probably could never get it back together again."
