hard to do, but I am an artist and a student of philosophy in Flagstaff, Arizona, USA. After traveling around Europe this past summer i got my first ever feel of the world and its people on its own scale. I consider myself a world citizen, and am working to center myself so that i may help center the world. Some call me a cynic, or a nihilist, but they are seeing only one part of the whole. Seeing the world through the lens of philosophy and history, i hope that one day i may use my education, and creative being to work for a free and equal world.
"We live in illusion and the appearance of things. There is a reality. We are that reality. When you understand this, you see that you are nothing, and being nothing, you are everything. That is all."
-Kalu Rinpoche
What Gives Me Hope
conversing with people and seeing the changes that have become inherent in each succeeding generation. the internet, and its ability to connect people around the world and to strengthen a sense of purpose and collective power for change.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
pull out of Iraq, set the educational system straight, and focus more money and effort into developing cleaner sources of energy.
What/who changed my life and why
Gary Lewallen (photography teacher) because he taught me much more than photography and composition, but visual and cultural literacy, and its ever growing importance in the image oriented world we live in.
Jean-Paul Sarte - "Being and Nothingness" because it was the first book of philosophy i ever read. It slapped me in the face; its ideas started my mind working on the problems of my own existence which lead in the direction of the east, to The Buddha and The Vedas.
"However deep your
Knowledge of the scriptures,
It is no more than a strand of hair
In the vastness of space;
However important appears
Your worldly experience,
It is but a drop of water in a deep ravine."

Hi Andrew,
I tried to send you a Friend Request, and an intro, but the System wouldn't let me.
Have a wonderful day.
Respectfully and sincerely,
Electra *sigh* :)
