May I ask you please take a moment of your time to view the video opposite & kindly read the below The Tortoise Protection Group is a non-profit organisation founded in 2007 and is run by a group of voluteers, dedicated to helping ensure the survival of tortoises in the wild and to promote high standards of husbandry to tortoise keepers.
My primary reason for joining this group was to promote the TPG campaign and aims. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it is a very good cause. May I ask you please take a moment to sign our petition concerning the importation of tortoises into the UK.
Illegal tortoise trade is happening in Britain” (DEFRA, 2004).
An estimated 10 million tortoises were shipped into the UK for the pet trade between 1890 and 1984 before the initial ban was introduced. This trade is back! … and tortoises are being imported in substantial numbers. However, DEFRA are failing to prevent this illegal trade and are in fact licensing it. These tortoises go through untold misery and often arrive here with chronic worm infestations and dehydrated, which far too often contributes to their early demise.
We have been actively promoting the Care2 petitions on Myspace and are looking for good friends to help promote the petitions. If you have a Myspace account, please consider adding us by clicking the below link :-
Although my main concern to join this group was to promote the TPG petition, joining has really opened my eyes to the thousands of animal welfare concerns.
