Three horses were re-homed during adoption weekend!
Summer/Fall Adoption Weekend Coming!
We're joining up with another non-profit company that accepts all unwanted or unusable electronics containing hazardous waste such as lead and mercury. Once collected, products are taken to the Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) eWaste processing plant in Fresno to be safely and ethically recycled. After that, we can receive funds from ERI for donated televisions, computer monitors, plasma screen and laptops!
Some specifics:
* All electronic items are accepted.
* Electronic Recyclers Int'l (ERI) is located in Fresno so no items are shipped offshore.
* ERI safely/ethically recycles and disposes of electronic items at their state-of-the-art plant.
* ERI destroys hard drives and provides certification of destruction on request.
Please pass the word! The fundraiser will continue until the end of September. We are so excited to be a part of this as it's doing something great for the environment and helping the horses at the same time! Funds from this drive will be used specifically to pay for our HUGE hay bill.
How Can You Help
The most important thing we can use at this time is volunteers. We have many horses right now and all could use some extra attention! We would love to have you out to groom, hand walk or just feed the horses carrots and love on them! We also have a current wish list, but
understand if you prefer to wait to donate until we receive our tax exemption status.
A Little About What We Do
Although there are several rescues in California that deal with off-track Thoroughbreds, we have found few that deal specifically with Standardbreds off the track. We are hoping to fill a much needed niche! Many people do not know about the extremely versatile Standardbred. Standardbreds can look very similar to their cousin the Thoroughbred, however are generally very calm and make excellent family horses for trail, pleasure, etc. They are also athletic enough to do well in
sporthorse disciplines. One recent adopter labeled the Standardbred breed as the "labradors of the horse world" --- this is the best description we've heard of for this wonderful breed!
Who We Are
We are a small, start-up non-profit, dedicated to assisting horses off the track learn new careers and find loving homes. We began this about 2 years ago with the purchase of a small ranch in Woodland, CA. We started with PMU rescue and have many draft horses who still live here. With the help of some wonderful people, we were introduced to the Standardbred breed.
Hello & thank you for the friend request! I see you are associated with a horse rescue program. I too try to help a friend of mine that runs New Vocations (based here in Ohio) find forever homes for retired racehorses. Keep up the good work!
