I grew up in Torrance, CA. I have a daughter whose 41 yrs old. She will be in May! I have two grandchildren. Brandi will be 19 yrs old and Chris will be 18. When Chris was 3 mos old, he came down with Bacterial Meningitis. Over night, and in the naval hosp. he went into full cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, Chris now has severe brain damage and was not suppose to live to see his 5th birthday. He fooled everyone. Even though he cannot talk or eat let alone walk...he is still a vital part of our family and we love him. My daughter has taken EXCELLENT care of Chris - care he would have never gotten had he been in a nursing care facility. One more cause ...MORE MONEY for caregivers who stay at home and care for their loved ones. Oh my gosh, it is hard work but they deserve the money they get paid by the state. I will be making a petition for ALL CAREGIVERS in California.
As a hobby, I make wax melts for the tart burners as well as sachets. I do make candles as well. I usually give away as gifts to family/friends. I also dabble in acrylic painting when I feel up to it.
I'm a compassionate person and care about people and animals. I make no apologies for being the compassionate person that I am. I wish we could save the world but I know this is not possible. I live in Southern California and have all 58 yrs of my life. I see no reason why we have to kill so many animals to make room for more being brought in from the streets etc. We have the room, acres in the desert to build a large facility for all animals that have been surrendered by their owners, found on the streets, victims of animal cruelty etc. We should do away with high kill shelters. We must also EDUCATE the public regarding spay/neutering and microchips. Why aren't we doing more about this? We have many people coming into the USA from other countries who do not understand our way of life especially when it comes to domestic animals. In many countries, it's ok to let your animal run the streets but it is not ok in America. Let's EDUCATE!
I care about the homeless who wander the streets and many are mentally ill. They might be schizophrenic - Bi-Polar and refuse to take their medication so they end up on the streets. This is wrong. Why aren't we doing more for the mentally ill in our country? Shouldn't we have facilities for them where they can sleep in a warm bed, have food to eat, medication to take and possibly rehab them? These are the things I care about in our society. I have not been able to work for 8 yrs now due to health issues which are all invisible. In other words, looking at me you would never know I was in such pain or so ill. I would like to see a kinder society towards people with invisible and visible disabilities. Don't judge or assume.
Not sure this is "WILD" but my husband and myself have become very active in helping others as much as we can. We have several organizations that we help out each year by giving. If we ever won the lotto, you can bet we would help more people!
Helping people/animals is a wonderful feeling and I only wish more would do it....
What Gives Me Hope
That domestic animals will be viewed as "part of the family." Homelessness will end! Mentally ill will be taken care of and housed as they should be instead of roaming the streets. People will learn to care about each other.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
