If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
What/who changed my life and why
I was at school in England in the 1970s, my Father worked hard, enjoyed a drink, it affected my family life. I remember that my school class watched a made for tv schools programme, it was about working conditions in Victorian England, and in the programme a Father signs a pledge to stop drinking, he then goes home and shows his certificate to his children and tells them that he loves them more than grog. Later in my life, my Mother died of stomach cancer, and my Father developed severe dementia, I had left my military career of 15 years to help him, the pressure was great, I was drinking 3 bottles of wine, then I stopped drinking, I told my children I loved them more than grog etc, and have been tea total for a long time.
