“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him."
- Lord Buddha
“I am the immeasurable potential of all that was, is, and will be, and my desires are like seeds left in the ground: they wait for the right season and then spontaneously manifest into beautiful flowers and mighty trees, into enchanted gardens and majestic forests.”
The tree was so full of apples that its branches could not move in the wind. "Why don't you make any noise? After all, we are all or us vain enough o want to be noticed," remarked the bamboo. "I don't need to make a noise. My fruits are my best advertisement," replied the apple tree. Author unknown.
I pray for all of us, oppressor and friend, that together we may succeed in building a better world through human understanding and love, and that in doing so we may reduce the pain and suffering of all sentient beings.
-His Holiness the Dalai Lama
Life is a promise. Fulfill it.
Mother Teresa
These eyes are not me.
I am not caught by these eyes.
I am light without boundaries.
I have never been born, I will never die.
Look at the stars, the moon, the sun, the blue sky the oceans.
Everything is a manifestation of our collective consciousness.
Since time immemorial I have been free.
Birth and death are only doors through which I come in, come out.
Birth and death are only a hide and seek game.
So take my hand, smile to me, say goodbye so that we may meet again.
We have already met at the base and we meet each other in all walks of life.
Buddha’s Dhammapada From the Pali Cannon
We must each lead a way of life with self-awareness and compassion, to do as much as we can. Then, whatever happens, we will have no regrets. His Holiness the Dalai Lama, The Path to Tranquiliy
And now as long as space endures, As long as there are beings to be found, May I continue likewise to remain to drive away the sorrows of the world.
The Way of the Bodhisattva, Shantideva
Please think of ways, big and small, that you can help the environment. Can you ride your bike to work, the store, your friend's house? Can you use canvas bags instead of plastic or paper for shopping? Can you walk to the movie theater? Can you grow your own food, or buy locally grown food? Can you buy less, recycle and reuse more?Everything we do either brings our planet closer to health or further from it. Please be mindful of our planet. What you do makes a big difference!
Until the day that the sky itself, with all the sun and stars, falls down to earth, May I remain to help every living being.

When you label me, you negate me -Soren Kierkegaard
Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. -Albert Einstein
The unexamined life is not worth living -Socrates
Followers of the Way, the one who at this moment stands alone, clearly and lively right before your eyes and is listening, this one is nowhere obstructed. Unhindered, this one penetrates everywhere and moves freely; entering all kinds of situations, is never affected by them. -Rinzai
"He who sees all beings in his own Self, and his own Self in all beings, loses all fear." - The Upanishads
Adventurous, independent, a bit of a loner, thoughtful, responsible, fun-loving, physically fit, energetic, playful, passionate and sensual. I live according to my ethics and principles. I try to think in terms of interbeing and connectedness and I allow this to direct my actions and decisions, both big and small. While I'm very practical and responsible, I'm also a dreamer and rather playful and the 12 year old in me is alive and well! I can be a bit of a task-master when there's a job to be done, but I try to be flexible when working with others.
My list of things I want to do continues to grow. It includes travel and exploration, hang gliding, hiking and finishing the climb up Mt. Fuji, and lots more! My path is leading me to a more simple and earth-friendly lifestyle.

What/who changed my life and why
Thich Nhat Hanh's work in bringing Buddhism to the West. His simple yet profound ways touch me and his emphasis on living mindfully has changed my life.
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean cradle of birth and death, in ebb and in flow.
My limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life and my pride is from the life throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.
–Rabindranath Tagore
