The story of two rural teens who had the courage to stand up to bigotry and intolerance in their schools – and the determination to tell their stories to the world.
Homophobia is one of the last “permissible” forms of prejudice. Its effects are especially acute for youth, who often suffer alone and in silence. Two thirds of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth experience harassment or violence in school, and the suicide rate for this group is four times the average.
I Moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado 3 years ago with my partner from southeastern New Mexico. I am a person of integrity and try to do what I believe is right in all my dealings. I see my life as a journey of continued growth of awareness and learning both in the physical and spiritual sense. I am in a committed gay relationship and the father of three children.
I'm at a place in my life where I am really enjoying being myself and continuing my journey, wanting to meet and make interesting friends along the way of varying backgrounds and cultures. I enjoy the outdoors, the beauty of living in Colorado, the environment, and I am avid about the fight for social and civil justice.
The condition we leave the environment in for future generations is an important concern of mine as well as how we treat our fellow homo-sapiens and other species in this global community.
