"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."[Edmund Burke]
It has been well established that human individuals are genetically different from one another. It would be easy to agree with each others if we focus on what we have in common, rather than how different are we from each others.
"Nationalism is an infantile disease, the measles of mankind." [Albert Einstein]
"The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it."[Albert Einstein]
"One Planet: One Mission" — Save our Planet Earth and All Creatures on it!
"Our home — Earth — is in danger. What is at risk of being destroyed is not the planet itself, but the conditions that have made it hospitable for human beings." [Al Gore]
"This is not a political issue. This is a moral issue, one that affects the survival of human civilization. It is not a question of left versus right; it is a question of right versus wrong. Put simply, it is wrong to destroy the habitability of our planet and ruin the prospects of every generation that follows ours." [Al Gore]
Some Things we can do to Save Our Planet Earth: * Use compact fluorescents. * Turn off lights and other electric devices (TVs, stereos, and radios) when not in use. * Use rechargeable batteries. * In summer, use fans instead of air conditioners. * In winter, insulate the home, wear a sweater instead of turning up the thermostat, and use less hot water. * Plant trees. * Don't waste products made from forest materials. * Use recycled paper. Reuse old papers and recycle it. * Buy products with little or no packaging. * Avoid disposable products. * Buy organic fruits and vegetables. * Don't buy products if animals were killed to make it.
"Be One with the Cosmo": Seek for Harmony of Man with all Creatures and Things in Nature
"A human being is a part of the whole, called by us the 'Universe', a part limited in time and space.
He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.
This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." [Albert Einstein]
"The universe and I came into being together; I and everything therein are One." [Chuang-tzu, ca. 369-286 BC]

Man-Environment: Protect rain-forests, no pollution, stop global warming
"If you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies."[Moshe Dayan]
"Peace has to be created, in order to be maintained. It is the product of faith, strength, energy, will, sympathy, justice, imagination, and the triumph of principle. It will never be achieved by passivity and quietism." [Dorothy Thompson]
"Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of creative alternatives for responding to conflict -- alternatives to passive or aggressive responses, alternatives to violence." [Dorothy Thompson]
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning a lion wakes up, it knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.
It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you’d better be running.[Anonymous]

For millions of years, this little world was a paradise for animals and plants, until humans appeared. In the ancient world, there were so many animals and plants, but few human beings.
Humans gradually became dominant and took over the planet, but Homo sapiens has never been an environment friendly species. With the invention of tools and weapons, animals are captured, exploited, slaughtered or tortured to death. When trees are cut down en masse and rainforests are destroyed, the natural habitats of wildlife are severely damaged and eliminated. The rapid proliferation of humans has been a severe threat to the survival of all other species, and to our own living environment. Even the planet itself has been irreversibly damaged.
Article 1: All animals have equal rights to exist within the context of biological equilibrium. This equality of rights does not overshadow the diversity of species and of individuals.
Nowadays there are so many humans on Earth, but so few remaining animals. It has been totally out of proportion. Wouldn't you give them a chance to survive?
"If man wants freedom why keep birds and animals in cages? Truly man is the king of beasts, for his brutality exceeds them. We live by the death of others. We are burial places!" [Leonardo Da Vinci]
"If a man aspires towards a righteous life, his first act of abstinence is from injury to animals." [Albert Einstein]
SAVE THE SHEEP:
Stop the cruelty! No more abuse the poor little creature!
Millions of sheep are sent from Australia to the Middle East each year to endure horrific cruelty and the terror of having their throats cut whilst fully conscious!
Amer. Soc. for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)
Article 1: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
Article 3: Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.
Article 5 : No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
"Our country for the first time in my life time has abandoned the basic principle of human rights.
We've said that the Geneva Conventions do not apply to those people in Abu Ghraib prison and Guantanamo,
and we've said we can torture prisoners and deprive them of an accusation of a crime to which they are accused." [Jimmy Carter]
Torture (According to International Law): Torture is "any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity."
"Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you."[Pericles, 430 BC]
"Who dares not speak his free thoughts is a slave." [Euripides, ca. 485 - 406 BC]
"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." [Thomas Jefferson]
"The greatest tyrannies are always perpetrated in the name of the noblest causes." [Thomas Paine]
THE TAO OF DEMOCRACY:
"The best leaders are those the people barely aware of their existence; the next best leaders are those whom they love and praise; next are those whom they fear; and next are those whom they despise.
When they fail to inspire the people's faith, the people will lose faith in them." [ Lao-tzu; ca. 570 BC - ? ]
"The people are starving because the government levies too much tax. This is why the people are starving.
The people become difficult to govern because of too much interference of their government. That is why the people are unruly.
The people take death lightly because the rulers demand too much of life. That is why the people take death lightly." [Lao-tzu]
"When the people no longer fear of punishment, something greatly dreadful could descend.
Do not constrict their dwelling, do not lay heavy burdens upon their livelihood. Only when the ruler cease to oppress them, they will cease to be wearied of him." [Lao-tzu]
"It's no in between: you're either free or you're a slave." [H. Rap Brown]
"I know not what course others may take but as for me: give me liberty or give me death."[Patrick Henry] "When the government fears the people, there is liberty; when the people fear the government, there is tyranny." [Thomas Jefferson]
"Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves." [Henry David Thoreau]
"Any new power given to government will be abused."[Gary Nolan]
THE TAO OF LIBERTY: "The more prohibitions there are, the poorer its people become.
The more weapons a country hoards, the more chaos arise in the country.
The more ingenious and skillful people are praised by the leader, the more fanciful goods will crop up.
The more laws and order are promulgated, the more thieves and bandits there will be.
Therefore, a wise ruler says: As I refrain, the people are reformed of themselves.
Since I esteem quiescence, the people will keep order on their own.
As long as I act only by inaction, the people will of themselves become prosperous.
When I let go of all desires, the people attain the primitive simplicity by themselves."[Lao-tzu]
"Heaven is everlasting and Earth is perpetual. Their endurance is due to the fact that they do not exist for themselves. Therefore, they last forever." [Lao-tzu]
Water: (The theme of my page)
"Nothing is more pliant and yielding than water; but when it attacks hard and strong objects, nothing is more capable than water. Thus, nothing is able to win water.
The yielding conquers the strong, and the pliable conquers the rigid. Even though everyone in the world knows this, no one put it into practice.
The supreme goodness is like water. Water nourishes and benefits all life, and does not strive with them for position. It dwells in the lowest places that all disdains, and in this it is close to the way of Tao (Truth)."[Lao-tzu]
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
"The scientist does not study Nature because it is useful; he studies it because he delights in it,
and he delights in it because it is beautiful.
If Nature were not beautiful, it would not be worth knowing; and if Nature were not worth knowing,
life would not be worth living."
[Henri Poincare 1854-1912]
When I was young, I loved to travel and know more about our world. I had the opportunity to live in different countries and stay on several continents on earth. I've lived in the towns where Einstein developed his theories of relativity, and where Goethe met Johann Gottfried Herder.
I learned that every society has its own historical background and cultural tradition. Every country has its own political, economic and national situation, and international relation. One had better to understand than to judge, because no one is the center of the universe.
The mission of a scientist is:
to discover more of the beauty of Nature,
to share our knowledge with others,
to help the disable people,
to help people to aware of diseases,
to defend knowledge and truth,
to engage in a fight with forces of ignorance, and
to sustain our credentials as disability right activist
"I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only a boy playing on the sea shore, and diverting myself now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier sea shell than ordinary whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me." [Sir Issac Newton]
Since humans are genetically programmed to be inseparable from Nature, it will be disastrous to isolate ourselves from our natural habitat. It is our responsibility to preserve the Nature and maintain a livable world. Human beings may not be forever the most important species on this planet. We have been experiencing adverse feedbacks from the damages done to the Mother Earth.
What Gives Me Hope
Good health (I want to be healthy, skinny and happy)
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Banning smoking, and stopping the exploitation of humans and animals. If I would have any choice, I prefer not to be a politician or a tyrant.
A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties;
no religious basis is necessary.
Man would indeed be in a poor way
if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment
and hope of reward after death. [Albert Einstein]
For if you forgive others their trespasses,
your heavenly Father will also forgive you;
but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
[New Testament Matthew]

I once stated that the word most descriptive of Eduardo is "intelligent". That does fit, but he's so much more. He is a true humanitarian, a caring friend, a defender of the weak and an advocate for us all. I am honored and proud to be his friend.
'O, let my land be a land where Liberty Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath, But opportunity is real, and life is free, Equality is in the air we breathe . . ."
