GEOGRAPHICAL: North Dakota kid who has been thoroughly and irredeemably Chicagoified. Well-travelled but not world-weary. Willing to go anywhere w/good food and a steady supply of cool water. Looking for a gal who knows her way around a globe and doesn't shy away from the unfamiliar. Major weakness for gal who speaks with subtitles.

EMOTIONAL: Even-tempered, basically happy despite the state of affairs today. Unabashed rationalist (read i look for the best in each situation and notice that when i smile at the world it largely smiles back) although I admit to getting choked up at schmaltzy Kodak/Hallmark commercials. Looking for a gal who is, like me, generally stable, especially when things get bumpy or when we get off at the wrong exit.

CEREBRAL: Fully-functional brain (i may ask a really poignant question as we crawl out of bed at 6 or 7AM) i love science and language. Looking for a gal who is curious about lots of stuff and will not crumble when faced with my masterful Connect-Four strategies. Etymologies are sexy, and I do appreciate a gal who can make me laugh and has a good sense of humor. I will discover what makes you laugh, its fun and teaches me alot about you. I enjoy spending the evening cooking scrumptious food and eating it. I am a vegetarian and involved in the peace effort.

PHYSICAL: Strong, athletic build (i play a solid game of volleyball...indoor or beach). I sport all major appendages, and am always willing to try any physical activity as long as it’s with the understanding that the score is secondary to the game. I enjoy pedaling and play tennis and golf well. I found yoga more than ten years ago and practice regularly. Yoga helps me be strong, flexible and young.

SOCIAL. After being front and center for years with work now I’m just as happy at a pub as at a formal event, provided that I’m with interesting, open-minded people. I love long walks, especially when taken by people who annoy me. I do enjoy concerts, summerdance, museums, fests and the whole laundry list of stuff everyone else loves to do in Chicago (really)! I tend to sing in the shower..duet anyone? I have an ineluctable aversion to magicians, braggarts, and Paris Hilton. I am looking for a woman who likes herself and life. I enjoy playing card games like bridge, pinocle and cribbage.
