I saw the girl I used to be
With eyes full of questions
And sadness around her.

She gazed at me
As if I was a distant memory
Her soft voice echoed in my ear
"Have you forgotten?"

Tears filled my eyes as she spoke
Softly, innocently
"Remember" she pleaded

As I thought of her
I closed my eyes
I thought of dreams
Where had they all gone?

I ventured to open my eyes
And in the mirror I saw the me I am
The dreams are gone
The innocence also

But, what stands here
Is a women who stands tall
But, never forgets
The girl I used to be.
