I love my 'charity work' and am currently the President of the Deception Bay Lions Club Inc! I have been a Lion since 2002 and I love it. I love doing work for and within my local community. I guess you could say that is the 'ground-roots' stuff. Start there, start small and you WILL make a difference! I am also a member of several other local community organisations which takes up a lot of my time, but not having a paying job right now, I have a lot of that.
I have 3 children, all grown now. My youngest was diagnosed with ASD when he was 11; a lot later than most children. He is a great kid and a beautiful human-being; as are all of my kids! He is brilliant with computers so he fixes what Mom manages to stuff up now and then! Hahaha!
One of the things I REALLY hate, are doctors, teachers and the general public, who don't believe in Austism - AS, or ADD, ADHD, ODD or any of the other behavioral or developemental conditions so prevalent today. I don't believe they are 'new', just that we now have ways to diagnose and understand them where previously, those people were just 'strange or weird or slow' and misunderstood. People with a disability are not stupid, so why treat them that way?
