About Me The Hope Now Project was started recently by the Population Research Village (www.prvllc.org). It has the power (if only we would choose to do it) of bringing the Earth's human population levels to within carrying capacity in ONE DECADE. It requires voluntary self-sacrifice by all of us, and that is where it becomes one of those "Inconvenient Truths". Meanwhile, some estimated 27,000 plant and animal species become extinct every blessed year... At some point even the cancer dies... Not saying humans are a cancer - we aren't - but we are choosing to act like one.

What Gives Me Hope Hope Now Project
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by If I had the ability and resources, and nothing was politically impossible, I would institute global free birth control plus payment incentives. This would redistribute wealth to the needy and bring our population to within carrying capacity rapidly due to attrition. I would also incorporate into education courses that teach an understanding of ecology and connectedness to Nature. Tax breaks would no longer be for having children; they would be for living vegan lifestyle, for low-consumption/high-tech lifestyles, and for non-predatory (aka bankers, doctors, lawyers, politicians, etc.) and just lifestyles. Hard to even imagine it, but if I *could*...I would make it a part of the Constitution that ALL BEINGS are of equal importance. A near-zero-karma lifestyle of harvesting nuts & berries & seeds for food would be explored (living roots, stalks, and leaves can be harvested in non-detrimental quantities). Wow. Can anyone else imagine that? True, most animals would remain carnivores & omnivores, but the point is that we humans are able to make the choice and maybe *should*.
