Hi there to anyone who is reading this- This is a really cool site that I'm glad to now be a part of! I'm very passionate about a variety of world issues, and it's basically become my life mission to make the world more healthy and sustainable. I am most concerned with Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental/Wildlife Conservation, Population control, Global Warming, Renewable Energy, and Human Rights. I am a student studying Media Studies, with a focus in Journalism. I hope to write for an Independent newspaper and or TV station, help produce documentaries, write books, perhaps run for office someday, and just be an overall activist! I am constantly reading and informing myself about issues of interest, and constantly coming up with ideas to get the message out! First and foremost, I am a writer and I love research and putting together facts and ideas!
I would love to make personal and/or professional contacts on here, if anybody has any questions or comments, please send away! Together, we can and will make a difference! =-D
When I was attending UNH, through campaigning for Kerry I got the opportunity to meet him and his entire family! (all at different times!) =-D
My Philosophy
Peace, Love and Compassion: The 3 qualities this world needs more of
We live in an interconnected and interdependent world where humans are a mere part of an intricate web of life. Every sentient being has an inalienable right to live a quality life.
Since all life forms are dependent on the environment, its' care-taking and conservation should be the #1 priority in our world!
Information is power- the more informed and enlightened individuals become, the greatest the planet will benefit.
What Gives Me Hope
Individuals and companies moving towards more sustainable practices, the multitude of books and documentaries coming out on important world issues, namely the environment.
Also, the rise of vegetarians/vegans, and the growing organic section at supermarkets is a great new trend!
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Write up a list of practices that will contribute to a more sustainable world, and give tax breaks to businesses and households who pledge to follow them!
What/who changed my life and why
Farenheit 9/11 was a real eye-opener for me. I had never really taken an interest in politics before, I was more absorbed with my own life. However, after watching Michael Moore's brilliant film, I realized I could no longer go on as an uninformed and inactive citizen, I had to look at the bigger picture and fight for my beliefs!
