It is with a heavy heart that I (Foster Lady) I inform you that Koli now runs the Frozen Tundra of the Great Beyond.
In June she went into renal (kidney) failure. We did what we could to save her; but by the time we knew, it was too late. July 20th we said goodbye.
I'll be keeping this account active as a memorial in her memory. She was loved by many and it has been heart-wrenching witnessing so many broken hearts.
On a fortune cookie the day after I asked for people to send her loving warm energy: "Love is a warm fire to keep the soul warm."
It's not the best song I thought of, or the first; but it is the only one that has stuck in my head/remember thinking of. The week after she went, I played "Leave Out All the Rest" by Linkin Park
Thank you everyone for your support over the years, "F.L."
MY FOSTER LADY ASKED ME TO PLEASE HAVE YOU READ THE "About Me" SECTION (way) DOWN BELOW BEFORE READING THIS BILLBOARD SECTION. THANKS! ~tail wags~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4/29/09 Update: Grrr Haruff, I had yesterday’s update all typed out and when I hit Save I found out the system had logged me out. All that work gone. Sorry, but it’ll be a little more bland and brief than the original.
4/28/09 Update (try 2): I told you I was bored! The squirrels were “playing tag” with each other. I couldn’t resist, I chased them. I wanted to play too. They weren’t happy about it and I don’t think my human was either. She did tell me I was good though for playing nice. ~tail wags~
4/27/09 Update: She gave me peanuts! Yum! All I had to do to get them was watch her give them to the squirrel. EASY! She was giving more to the squirrel though so I tried to go and take my share. She called me away from the buffet. I thought she had more for me; I feel tricked. I only got two more. If you want to read Foster Lady's side of the story you can read it here: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/adopt_koli/message/47
Oh yes, please let me meet your cats. They'd be so much fun to chew... I mean chase. ~tail wags~
*ha'ruff* Foster lady is sick again, so no walks or bike rides. I'm bored!!! She tries to give me things to do but the games only last for a few minutes at a time.
We have to find a new home for our main ad (the one on Petfinder.) The group hosting it for us no longer will be able to. For details click here.
4/08/09 Update: A few days ago I got to go and see foster guy and his dog and foster guy's cousin's dogs. I was having tons of fun playing with Parry and Charlie, but the new one was being a big meanie. I was being a good girl too. He's a black dog, but I ignored that, I was there to have FUN. He kept diving in and biting me, HARD. I told him that's inappropriate behavior and yelled at him, but he kept doing it. Foster lady says I was a really good girl. She says he would have deserved it if I had lost my temper with him. I didn't though. I ignored him and played with Charlie instead.
3/24/09 Update: Well, we went for a "bike ride" again. It was nice and all but she didn't let me stop and sniff hardly anything. I even went slow to let her know I had full intentions of of stopping to pee on things but she just ignored me. *Hruff*
On the bright side one of our friends stopped by tonight and I got to give him all sorts of face kisses. Silly guy though, he kept asking me to sit all the time. Doesn't he know princesses are the ones to give the royal decrees? He was a guest though so I was polite and humored him.
3/14/09 Update: Sorry it has been so long since I wrote. I've been having lots of fun. Sometimes I stay with the lady that saved me from the jail, and sometimes I stay with the guy with the other dogs. I love making new friends and he always is bringing dogs over to play. They're both still trying to find me a new home, but I love the guy with the dogs and want to stay with him. They say I have to be adopted though so that they can save more dogs from the doggy jails.
I still get too excited when I first meet another dog and my adrenaline kicks in. I don't mean to loose control but I can't help it. Don't worry though, it's not a real attack and I don't draw blood, I'm just playing in HIGH SPEED/fast forward. The nice lady is trying to help me learn to calm myself. Once I meet another dog again I'm fine as I already know them.
My foster lady has been documenting updates over on the Yahoo group.
I had so much fun last night!!! She said it was called a "bike ride"; she was riding and I was running. It's been soooo long since I got to run full speed; you humans are soooo slow on your two legs. I figured you would be faster since they are so long. She tried this twice before and I just couldn't figure out what she wanted to do and why she kept getting mad every time I stopped to sniff something. Last night we both figured out how to communicate to each other what to do and with in seconds we were working almost flawlessly. I forgot to warn her once that I was stopping to pee and well.... Sorry!!! I didn't mean for you to crash. Forgive me?! Well, she has already forgiven me and it was more like a bump that a crash, but I still feel bad. We had been having so much fun. She tells me that we're going to be going again soon since it made me so happy and that I was such a good girl.
5/30/07 Update: I stayed with the guy with the doggies again and I had so much fun! My poor human was so sick and sleeping all the time. I was really worried about her and didn't even ask for walks. She said if I went away she'd get better. I have no problems playing with other dogs if that's what'll make her better! Humans are weird. Doggies eat plants to get better. Who am I to argue though. She said the guy had really nice things to say about me again and that you should go read them. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/adopt_koli/message/20
3/13/07 Update: I got to spend a whole week with the person with the doggies! It was so much fun! I wish I didn't have to come back home. I love my people, but I like the other place better. My person says he had nice things to say about me. Go check it out http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/adopt_koli/message/16
2/18/07 Update: (My person asks me to have you first read the "About Me" section below first before reading this. Thanks!) Wowee! My people took me on a long ride in the truck again and when they finally stopped there was a guy at the park with two dogs. When they let me out of the truck they let me go near the other dog! I was so surprised! Normally my people try to keep me away from other dogs. They say I don't know how to play nice. I seen that there was tons of snow and woods nearby. No sooner did I spot it than my person told me to ignore the other dog, we have sniffing and running to do! Figures. Oh well, I love snow and running and trees a lot! I just got to peeing on a second tree though when my person turned me around and we started heading toward the other person and their dog. Well, I wasn't going to let him hurt me or my person so I knew I had to tell him right away that I wasn't afraid of him. I threw in a nip on the muzzle and some extra growls for good measure. He told me to stop being such a prude. Then we all went for some walking. He made an excellent jogging partner! Well, I still thought he looked like trouble so I figured I should tell him so. I'm embarrassed to say... but he had me good. Boy is he strong and quick. He must be a doggy ninja or something. Yeah, that's the only way he could have bested this princess. That must be it. Later I thought I'd be able to sneak in and best him this time, he looked distracted. Nope, he's a sly one he is. After the last time I didn't want to cause a scene. I mean he didn't do any harm to me, but a princess should never loose a fight in public. Then he found a tasty cache. I wanted to share, but he didn't so I left it alone after half a minute of muzzle to muzzle stand still. By this time I realized that being beta wasn't so bad. I even let him pee over my pee. Having another doggy to run with is great. We're a lot faster than the two leggers! I just wish my person had let me off the rope. There were so many things to sniff in the woods! Maybe living with another dog won't be so bad after all.
(never updated, Please see Billboard for updates. I've come a long way since this was written.)
I am a black and white Female Husky and/or Malamute. I'm about 50 lbs. I'm a youthful adult at about four years old. I still love to run and play! I'd really like a jogging partner or someone who wants a willing worker. I'm sterilized so pups are not in my future. However I'll treat your kids with lots of love! (My caretakers don't want me going to a home with small children though just in case I ever forget that they are human and not the things I hunt outside.) However I'll need someone who'll help me with my fear of other dogs. I've had a bad experience in my past. I'm lonely though and do want to play with them. The person taking care of me right now doesn't exercise me enough. All those factors lead up to me being confused when I'm around other dogs and I attack them (it's mostly noise though.) I love hunting for my own food. It's so much fun. Wild game is so delicious. I don't know why my caretaker gets angry at me. It saves them money when I catch my own food. I leave birdies alone though. They are still fun to chase. If you have a pet bird you can ask me to leave it alone. It might take it a while to sink in though. Please don't leave us alone together though, I'd be too tempted to entertain myself. I am fully "housetrained" whatever that is. I keep a tidy yard and only potty in a very small area. Please keep it clean for me though. I don't like a soiled space any more than you do. I can't talk about me with out mentioning I LOVE BELLY RUBS!!!! Oh, and I really make my caretaker giggle a lot when I play. I didn't think it's anything special. She says it's the way I prance and toss the ball. Seeings as these nice people allowed me into their lives I do my best to be the perfect guest. I leave everything of theirs alone. I only play with stuff that they give to me. I even leave stuff alone when they are gone. I mind my manners. I've only gone in the trash once and it was when they were eating dinner and ignoring me. I wanted some too! They made it clear though that it's bad manners.
My caretaker says I look like a skunk! Thankfully I don't smell like one.
What Gives Me Hope
Someone came to save me the hour the people at the place with stone and bars were going to send me to the other side. These nice people are doing so much to find me a good home even though they have to work extra hard to take care of me. They knew they had no place for me in their lives, but they saved me anyhow.
