What/who changed my life and why Bury My Hear At Wounded Knee; Black Elk Speaks; Lame Deer Seeker of Visions because I read these after a friend my senior year in High school came to our study hall and was afraid to tell anyone she was a native american because where she came from they could go off the reservation, but getting back on was another story - for example she came back with a black eye, busted lips, bruises and she said her brother was in jail all because they left the reservation. That the whites in the area, as well as the blacks didn't tolerate Native Americans. That infuriated me and I wanted to learn more about Native American History. Now thanks to my friend Ruby Cherokee I'm attempting to learn Cherokee sign language.
