We Can Be Forever Young
Youth is not a time of life - it is a state of mind, it is a temper
of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, a
predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for
adventure over love of ease.

Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years; people
grow old only by deserting their ideals. Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and despair - these are the long, long years that bow he head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.

Whether seventy or sixteen, there is in every being's heart the
love of wonder, the sweet amazement at the stars and starlike
things and thoughts, the undaunted challenge of events, the
unfailing childlike appetite for what next, and the joy and the
game of life.

You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young
as your self-confidence, as old as your fear, as young as your hope, as old as your despair.

So long as your heart receives messages of beauty, cheer,
courage, grandeur and power from the earth, from man and from
the Infinite, so long you are young.

When the wires are all down and all the innermost core of your
heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of
cynicism, then you are grown old indeed and may God have mercy on your soul.

From A Sand County Almanac, Aldo Leopold

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, but He is no longer the only one to do so.  When some remote ancestor of ours invented the shovel, he became a giver: he could plant a tree.  And when the axe was invented, he became a taker: he could chop it down.  Whoever owns land has thus assumed, whether he know it or not, the divine functions of creating and destoying plants.

Other ancestors, less remote, have since invented other tools, but each of these, upon close scrutiny, proves to be either an elaboration of, or an accessory to, the original pair of basic implements.  We classify ourselves into vocations, each of which either wields some particular tool, or sells it or repairs it, or sharpens it, or dispenses advice on how to do so; by such divisions of labors, we avoid responsibility for the misuse of any tool save our own.  But there is one vocation-philosophy-which knows that all men, by what they think about and wish for, in effect wield all tools.  It knows that men thus determine, by their manner of thinking and wishing, whether it is worth while to wield any.

Wild Fact About Me
My Philosophy Every strength can at times be a weakness, and every weakness can become a strength. Wisdom comes in knowing when to change and when to stand your ground. Courage comes from first thinking for yourself, and then acting upon it.
What Gives Me Hope We don't know everything. That scares many, myself included, and yet gives me hope.

That most people want to be seen as good.

It is wise to always remember we reach our goals slowly for even the greatest novel was written but one word at a time.

On the day you were born it was a very special day
The world was blessed in a most unusual way
May the magic that brought you to Earth
Shine all around you on the day of your birth.
