What I Want to Do:

My Page Billboard

Hello!

As you may be aware last year marked a pivotal change in my life.  As my first term of active Air Force enlistment was coming to an end I began contemplating and praying about my next steps in life.

I had also recently started my own home-based business with USANA Health Sciences and was encouraged to write out a day in my life five years from now. In order to really get a perspective of where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do.

To me the most important thing I decided was to pursue my dreams and to do what makes me happy.  So, I wrote about how I wanted to take my love for running and also be able to help young girls.

Soon after (and with a lot of prayer) all the answers starting coming and things began falling into place.

I found an organization that shares my similar values and goals called Girls on the Run International. And now after a lot of hard work, I have found a wonderful group of women to help and we have established our own chapter of the non-profit Girls on the Run.  I will be the Executive Director of the new council.

Please read below about the program as my council and I work together to raise the initial founds we need to start delivering the program, which will start, pending our training, this fall.

Girls on the Run (www.girlsontherun.org) is a non-profit prevention program that encourages girls in 3rd to 8th grades to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles. The program is taught by trained volunteer coaches and addresses all aspects of girls' development - their physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual well-being - through running games and interactive activities.  The volunteers serve as role models to the girls through coaching for 12 weeks - twice a week for one hour - and culminates in the girls completing a local 5K race. The curriculum is delivered through after-school programs, recreation centers and other non-profit settings.

While there are more than 120 councils nationwide,  We are excited to have received approval to start a council in Travis County. Now we must fundraise in order to provide programs beginning Fall 2008. GOTR for Travis County must raise $6,000 by June 1, 2008. The money you donate will:

  • Train 4 coaches for our first year
  • Secure supplies for the girls (snacks, t-shirts)
  • Cover participant entry fees
  • Register each girl plus one parent/adult for a 5K race

To donate online via PayPal, click here. or message me for additional information!

About Me "There is a life force within your soul, seek that life.
There is a gem in the mountain of your body, seek that mine.
O traveler, if you are in search of That
Don't look outside, look inside and seek That."

___ok here's a lil' glimpse into my life...i grew up in the Northside of Omaha Ne, my family didn't have a lot of $ & I had some struggles just like EVERYONE else! but unlike everyone else I came to know God & so planted in me were dreams and visions of my success & a promising future. Eventually I got the courage to step out & make my dreams a reality. I left Omaha and everything I'd ever known, all my friends and family and joined the Air Force. and I've never regretted it. I am now absolutely living my dreams. I'm living in a wonderful city, Austin TX, I have a great job in the reserves doing what I love, I have my own business, a health and wellness co. called USANA, dedicated to helping people solve 3 basic problems that everyone has; the need for more time, more $, and better health. And through this company I've given life to even more things I only thought were dreams. I'm currently working on opening my own chapter of a non-profit org. called Girls on the Run in SA, TX. It allows me to take my love for running and help young girls. I also have the best family and friends ever!
I am in complete awe and gratitude for what God has done for me and my future is constantly looking brighter!
Having God, goals, dreams, optimism, and a sense of humor are vital to me. I am still growing n learning so much, however...I now have the success I always wanted. and success to me is...the collection of your memories, the employment and enjoyment of your present moments, and the anticipation of what's coming. It's looking in the mirror @ any given moment and seeing someone of great value who you respect!
I love to help people so if there's any way I can help you or you have any questions, feel free to message me!
