On the night of May 4, 2007, an EF-5 tornado, close to 2 miles wide, wiped out 95% of Greensburg, Kansas.

After the cleanup started, the Greensburg City Council approved a resolution that all city building projects will be built to LEED Platinum level standards. This makes Greensburg, Kansas the first city in the United States to do this. Greensburg is being rebuilt as a Green Town.

Greensburg Greentown is a non-profit organization created to help Greensburg residents, and others, learn about green building, and green living. We have lots of information, both on green issues and on the happenings and progress of Greensburg. I'd like to share our link with you all - http://www.greensburggreentown.org/. We've just launched a new campaign to find 1 million people who will donate just $5 to help GreenTown help the residents rebuild green!

We'd appreciate any help we can get to get the word out about what Greensburg, Kansas is doing!

NPR's "All things considered" did a 7 minute story on us, listen in HERE

TIME Magazine did a story about us, HERE

Good Morning America

If this small farming community in Kansas can do this, any town or city can! We want to be an example for other communities, especially those facing rebuilding after storm damage!

Wild Fact About Me
My Philosophy
What Gives Me Hope That after a tornado destroyed 95% of my town, my city council and fellow residents banded together to create a 'green town' while we are rebuilding!
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by Bigger tax breaks for charitable giving? Somehow make healthy, organic food easier for lower income families to afford? Laws about excessive packaging? Bigger incentives for people who use alternate forms of energy?
What/who changed my life and why An EF-5 tornado, 9:45 pm, May 4, 2007 - It wiped out my entire hometown of Greensburg Kansas, and set us all on a path we, as a town, would never have taken before! I have been trying to live a simpler, greener life my whole life, but I have made such a bigger commitment since we started building a "green town"!
www.greensburggreentown.org, and working with them, has really brought out a lot in me I never knew was there!
What Bugs Me negative thinkers, hate, voluntary ignorance, ppl who refuse 2 help the planet!, food prices, big government, people who cater to "upper class", people who say one thing and do another!
