Lion Haven, Gareth Patterson, renowned as the man that took over care of George Adamson's lion and known as "Ra de Tau," father of lions as he is called in Botswana is a trustee of Lion Haven, a 100 ha natural habitat sanctuary set on a plateau in the beautiful Cape Mountains that overlooks the Indian Ocean. Lion Haven was created to give life long sanctuary to four lion orphans who previously faced an uncertain future and could not be returned to the wilds. The partners in this new lion haven are Gareth, Sarah Scarth, director of IFAW Africa, the Neethling family who own the Botliers Game Reserve on which Lion Haven is situated, and Rita Miljo of the Care and Rehabilitation Center. Projects such as these allow Gareth to work toward something he deems as priceless and precious, something that may not be here in the years to come if something is not done. They and the others involved in the expose, received death threats, and one of Gareth's informants was forced off the road three times. In 1997 Gareth first investigated, then exposed, the sordid practice of 'canned' lion hunting in South Africa, the trophy shooting of captive raised lions by international hunters in enclosed areas. What/who changed my life and why	Two books actually. The first was 'Atlas Shrugged' by Ayn Rand. The second one was 'A new earth' by Eckhart Tolle. The honesty and integrity of the heroines/heroes in 'Atlas Shrugged' forces a consciousness of 'being present'. What Ayn Rand missed in 'spirituality' is picked up by Eckhart Tolle. In essence they both say the same thing, each from a different perspective. Ayn Rand is a very unforgiving philosopher, but there is much truth to her writings. Eckhart Tolle speaks the truth, but he comes with God's breath and hope.
