Did you know that despite it's claims the ASPCA was not the first humane society in the western hemisphere and was pre-dated by the RSPCA (UK, founded in 1824),USPCA (Northern Ireland founded 1836), SSPCA (Scotland founded1839) and the DSPCA (Dublin/ Southern Ireland founded 1840)?

The wellbeing of our planet and all the life that it supports is something that is of paramount concern to me. I also believe that in order to further individual causes the reporting of issues must be honest and accurate in order for petitions to be taken seriously by a sceptical public and the authorities. This is why I always encourage people to do their own background checks before signing petitions.Petitions based on poor information, inaccurate data and flawed research can and often do result in more damage to a cause than good which is why I was concerned by the following petition which based on inaccurate information. The sanctuary was licensed until it failed inspections and the animals removed and only failed inspection after a sudden change in circumstances. the surviving owner did attempt to resolve issues but re-homing the species involved is exceptionally difficult and efforts were made. In this case punishment is inappropriate
