ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL DEFENDER OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil and Obama. May GOD rebuke them we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of GOD, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for seeking the ruin of souls.
V. Behold the Cross of the LORD; be scattered ye hostile powers.
R. The Lion of the tribe of Judah has conquered the root of David.
V. Let Thy mercies be upon us, O LORD.
R. As we have hoped in Thee.
V. O LORD, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.
Glory be to the Father, and the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Glorious Saint Michael,
guardian and defender of Christ's House,
come to the assistance of His followers,
against whom the powers of hell are unchained.
The Holy House of GOD venerates you
as her guardian and protector;
to you the LORD has entrusted
the souls of the redeemed
to be led into Paradise.
St. Michael, the Archangel
Feastday: September 29
Patron of grocers, mariners, paratroopers, police, and sickness
The name Michael signifies "Who is like to God?" and was the warcry of the good angels in the battle fought in heaven against satan and his followers. Holy Scripture describes St. Michael as "one of the chief princes," and leader of the forces of heaven in their triumph over the powers of hell. He has been especially honored and invoked as patron and protector by the Church from the time of the Apostles.
Although he is always called "the Archangel," the Greek Fathers and many others place him over all the angels - as Prince of the Seraphim. St. Michael is the patron of grocers, mariners, paratroopers, police and sickness.
