On Sunday evening, followers of the Facebook fan page for No Dog Left Behind, got a message that they never wanted to see from someone that they had come to know and love through the world virtual friendship,

 To the No Dog left Behind fan page followers, If you're reading this it means I didn't make it back. Please do not mourn my death. You are some of the nicest, and most whole hearted people I have ever had the privilege of being affiliated with. I love you all and wish you all the best that this world has to offer. God bless you all, the U.S. Military, and the USA. Rangers Lead The Way! De Oppresso Liber!

The words were written by James, an Army Ranger who created the No Dog Left Behind Facebook Fan page.

No Dog Left Behind, is a Military Channel show about troops who rescued dogs found in Iraq and brought them home.

Though many of James' fans have requested that his last name be shared, so that they can remember him by his full name, those now in charge of the Facebook page have declined - only sharing that he was an Army Ranger who leaves behind a wife and unborn child, and that he was killed in action.

It has been reported that James was killed while dragging another wounded soldier to safety.

Condolences and words of thanks are now pouring in to the page from individuals wishing to thank a man for his service and to honor his memory.
