Well, thanks to this site exposing one's age, you already know I'm no spring chicken! However, I am a bit of a hippy and have been all of my life. I wanted to save the planet even before it became popular.
I am blessed to have a wonderful daughter who cares very much for the environment and who introduced me to this site. She has set up petitions for saving the koalas - I do hope you'll sign! She sponsors a koala... next on her list are orangutans, whales, elephants, sunbears and wolves. Put it this way, if its on any endangered list, she'll sponsor it. She does this, by the way, using her own pocket money.
I hope more and more people come to realize how precious our planet is and that ways will be found for industries to do business without harming the environment.
So I've joined here to lend my support to all the groups who aim to do just that - support and save the planet!
While I'm here, I also hope to network with people who might be able to put work my way. I am a self-employed contractor who works from home. I am a "Virtual Assistant" and looking for new clients. You can find out more about me and what I do at my website: http://A1VikingVirtualServices.com

|Wild Fact About Me
||In my 'youth', I used to go to Broome and camp on the beach with my hippy friends and we'd have a blast! Although being the shy one, I kept my bikinis on!
||Live and let live and do your own thing PROVIDED you hurt no other living creature/person. There is no excuse for people being nasty to other people or animals and I have no time for humans who are that low on the evolution scale - and it's not my job to "forgive their ignorant ways" - that's up to their God.
|What Gives Me Hope
||My daughter and others like her who are determined to save the planet!
|If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
||Start at home - look after my people, the poor, the sick, the homeless, the koalas!, the environment - everything that needs looking after in my country, FIRST, and then donate to poorer countries and other causes.
I don't see how we benefit by giving everything away and neglecting what is on our own doorstep. Yes, even so-called wealthy countries have their poor and suffering, with dropping hospital and education standards, homeless populations... you know what I mean.
As much as world poverty and suffering pains me, I do believe we are born into whichever part of the world we end up for a purpose and at the end of the day, my responsibility would be for those in my direct region. On top of which, there are those among us who can and do what we can through organizations such as World Vision and Greenpeace (2 examples) through sponsorships and donations.
Before we can help certain countries, they need to step up and accept the help and not abuse it or neglect it. Some countries have been helped for as long as I've been alive and in all these years they STILL haven't moved forward or progressed and it is their leaders who are holding them back - interested only in lining their own pockets while their people live in poverty. Educating third world countries would also be on my agenda, because only through enlightenment can progress be achieved.
|What/who changed my life and why
||Book: Johnathon Livingston Seagull, and
People: My deceased son and deceased stepson and my beautiful live daughter.
Why? The book made me think and gave me the courage to be myself. My dead sons - because it taught me how precious life is and how we shouldn't waste any moments or take anything for granted.
My daughter because every morning when I see her beautiful face, I am grateful for life. She is like an old soul in a young body and has wisdom beyond her years. There are no words to describe how much I love her.
