It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. ~ Mark Twain
Roughly 1.25 million of America's prisoners are mental patients who should be in hospitals or receiving treatment in community health programs, not jailed for having a disability! Disabled people should not be arrested for their handicaps. Homelessness, prison, and death must not continue to be America's answer to mental illness for our nation's indigent citizens. Decriminalize mental illness. Prisons are not for warehousing disabled people.
"In 2006, over 7.2 million people were on probation, in jail or prison, or on parole at yearend 2006 -- 3.2% of all U.S. adult residents or 1 in every 31 adults." ~ U.S. Department of Justice

GOOD NEWS FOR PRISON INVESTORS! NUMBERS WENT UP!

1 in every 99.1 adults was incarcerated by Feb. 2008. That takes care of the mentally ill and regular citizens. Why stop there? Now, they are working on the children.

LARRY NEAL is no. 26 on the prisoner genocide website's home page, but as more prisoners are killed, his position may change (WARNING - graphic images; violence):http://www.geocities.com/prisonmurder/
American justice is sick and dying. Can anyone save Justice, please?
Reutersreports the indictment alleges, "Former attorney general Gonzales used his position to 'stop the investigations as to the wrong doings' into assaults in county prisons . . . .” Americans want a justice system that is truly just.

Mental Health Parity Is Now Law After more than 10 years in the making, the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act is now the law of the land. This landmark legislation requires health insurance plans that offer mental health coverage to provide the same financial and treatment coverage offered for other physical illnesses.

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PETITION ASKING A FEDERAL AGENCY TO PLEASE, PLEASE DO WHAT TAXPAYERS PAY IT TO DO? HERE IS ONE:
YOUR OPINION, PLEASE: Our canine friends must be protected. Do you agree that the deaths of mentally ill people in America's jails and prisons deserve investigation as much as the abuse and deaths of American dogs?
If so, then please sign our Petition for Dog Justice for the Mentally Ill, or at least open it and read the petition and the supportive comments from people who CARE (select "view signatures" at this link): http://www.petitiononline.com/Neal/petition.html
Question: Is this for sick people, too? What about African Americans?
THANK YOU, CARE2, FOR GIVING ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE MORE FREINDS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY! Tell your representatives in Washington that you support a thorough examination of decades of failed criminal justice policy in the U.S.
Thank you for sticking with my page until you made it this far. It has been very hard to navigate for the past 3 or 4 months, since we found out more duing our justice quest - the REASON mental patients are in prisons instead of hospitals these days. Here I was thinking that our decision-makers needed more input from people like family members of sick people to UNDERSTAND them better, and that was certainly not the problem at all. Read my Sharebook and NowPublic.com articles for more information. Until the death of my brother, pictured in my place on Care2, who was likely euthanized while under secret arrest for mental illness, I was a legal secretary and grandmother whose greatest joy was cheering when my grandson grew a new tooth. Now, I advocate for incarcerated mentally ill Americans, who number into the hundreds of thousands. These citizens are imprisoned for public manisfestations of their mental dysfunction. In other words, they are arrested simply for being sick. I believe that most mentally ill prisoners should be released from jails and prisons and either (i) relocated to decent psychiatric hospitals for treatment and containment, or (ii) be returned to their communities under court-ordered psychiatric treatment, with provisions for their general welfare. Many mentally ill prisoners never understood their Miranda rights or the charges against them, and their imprisonment is therefore cruel and unusual punishment. It is cheaper to treat our mentally ill citizens in their communities or as in-patients than to keep them revolving in and out of jails and prisons. It is safer to treat our mental paitents and avoid massacres like the deaths of 32 persons at Virginia Tech. Most importantly, treatment of the mentally ill is the only humane option for a civilized society.
Like many people, I have spent much time worrying in the past. I have now learned to depend on Jesus! I work as though everything depends on me, and I pray as though everything depends on my Father. That is perfect balance!
What Gives Me Hope
I hope in God and in the intrinsic goodness in most people.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
I would be dictated by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. I would uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. I'd strive for peace among peoples in America and around the world and make humane decisions regarding all problems before me. I would decide on issues based on my decisions' future long-term impact on citizens' rights, our country's economy and environment as well as likely short-term benefits. My leadership would be guided by love.
What/who changed my life and why
Dorothea Lynde Dix (April 4, 1802 – July 17, 1887) was an American activist on behalf of the indigent insane. Through a vigorous program of lobbying state legislatures and the United States Congress, she removed many mentally ill Americans from prisons by creating the first generation of American mental hospitals. She forced legislators to begin looking at the mentally ill as human beings deserving treatment and care.
